The Propellerpack is a backpack with a helicopter blade utilized by King K. Rool in order to take flight. It was primarily used by K. Rool under his alias of Baron K. Roolenstein in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III , and later appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Donkey Kong Bananza . Its name is a pun on "propeller" and "backpack".
History[edit ]
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit ]
The Propellerpack first appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. In this game, Baron K. Roolenstein wears the Propellerpack as a backpack and uses it to fly around the levels Kastle Kaos and Knautilus. In both levels, the player must specifically hit the Propellerpack with barrels and Steel Barrels, respectively, in order to damage Baron K. Roolenstein.
Donkey Kong Land III[edit ]
In Donkey Kong Land III, Baron K. Roolenstein uses the Propellerpack to fly in the levels K Rool Duel and K Rools Last Stand.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit ]
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Propellerpack is King K. Rool's up special. When used, King K. Rool equips the Propellerpack and flies upwards, where he can move horizontally. After a couple of seconds the Propelllerpack's blades slow down and he falls back downwards. When this happens, the player cannot dodge, attack, or jump until King K. Rool touches the ground, although they can still move horizontally.
Donkey Kong Bananza[edit ]
In Donkey Kong Bananza , King K. Rool uses the Propellerpack to keep up with the Banandium Root shortly after Pauline and Donkey Kong wish to return to the surface, resulting in him flying around the area for the second phase of his boss fight. He mainly uses it to either charge into Donkey Kong and Pauline or use the All-Mine Remote to destroy sections of the banana platform they’re on before flying offscreen for a short time. Donkey Kong can grab some of the platform's terrain and throw it at King K. Rool to knock him away, but he comes back after a while. The Propellerpack in this game has now been upgraded to a jet-pack and its design appears to have taken inspiration from KAOS. When wearing it, King K. Rool's cape is folded and rolled up under it, and there is now an additional strap going across his belly with his emblem as the buckle.
