“"Those who reach the Planet Core will earn their greatest wish and more." Want heaps of bananas? Want a way back to the surface? The Planet Core will surely make your wishes come true!”
The Kong Elder in the Lagoon Layer

The Planet Core is the final layer of the Underground World in Donkey Kong Bananza , occupying sublayers 1600 to 1609. It is a large void abundant with gold, with a linear, downward spiraling path filled with obstacles. The path terminates at the Heart of Gold, where the Banandium Root resides.

The Planet Core has the most sublayers in the game, with ten. It is the implied birthplace of Fractones; the ones native to the Planet Core are irregular in shape and have difficulty in speech. The Climatic Cliff in sublayer 1609 marks the Exploritone's "resting place". All enemies encountered in the Planet Core are composed of the Kremling Krew, enhanced with various materials to resemble enemies of the Void Company.

Donkey Kong and Pauline venture through the Underground World in the hopes of finally reaching the Planet Core to have their wishes come true. Once King K. Rool is freed from the grasp of the Banandium Root above the Forbidden Layer's sinkhole, they chase down King K. Rool, who is ultimately found already possessing the power granted by the Banandium Root. After the first phase of the battle against K. Rool, Donkey Kong and Pauline ascend from the Planet Core to the surface, with their wishes granted by the freed Banandium Root.

During the post-game, the Great Harmoneel hosts a live show at the Heart of Gold. Seeking ideas for a new song, Donkey Kong and Pauline jump into his windpipe, which serves as a final challenge in the game.

Banandium Gems[edit ]

Main article: List of Banandium Gems in the Planet Core

There are a total of thirty-seven Banandium Gems (nineteen regular gems, one bunch of 3, and three bunches of 5) in the Planet Core. During Donkey Kong's first visit to this layer, he can collect eighteen Banandium Gems and two bunches of 5 Gems. After Donkey Kong defeats King K. Rool in New Donk City, another Banandium Gem becomes available to collect; after clearing the five Elders' rehearsals, the bunch of 3 Gems and another bunch of 5 Gems are available to collect.

Signs[edit ]

  • Diary of a Kremling Krew Member: Arrr! We've been stuck down here for ages... The memory of that day still sends a shiver through me cold-blooded bones. We didn't hesitate when ordered to jump down that final sinkhole. Problem was, King K. Rool was seized behind us by the Banandium Root, and in its grip he plugged the hole. Ahh, I'm a-feared, me... Terrible a-feared of what punishments are in store for us when the dread King K. Rool is free once again...
  • Saga of the Exploritone, Verse 29: It wasn't the end after all... We have reached the true Planet Core! This is the birthplace of all Fractones. At long last, this is the origin of Us. The Fractones here look like us, but they do not seem capable of speech. No matter how long it takes, we will find some way to communicate with them.
  • Saga of the Exploritone, Verse 30: It took many long hours, but we finally taught the Fractones to speak... Now capable of verbal communication, the Fractones here have enjoyed hearing tales of our underground travels. We have seen so much. We have met so many. Thus, we have a new quest! We are going to start a village here. We will invite creatures from all the upper layers to live and trade with us. This will someday be a thriving village that attracts all kinds of residents. This will be the origin of a new Us. As one saga ends, the next begins!
  • Here lies Exploritone, the adventurer... May they rest peacefully in this land, in the warm embrace of the Mother Banandium Root.
