Species Seal
First appearance Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (1995)
Latest appearance Donkey Kong Bananza (DK Island & Emerald Rush, cameo) (2025)

Clapper, also written as Klapper,[2] is an Animal Buddy in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2 . He has the ability to drastically lower the temperature of an entire body of water.

History[edit ]

Donkey Kong Country 2 / Donkey Kong Land 2[edit ]

Clapper has the exact same role in both games. He appears throughout Lava Lagoon, where he is used to cool the boiling water,[3] and his namesake level Clapper's Cavern, where he cools the water into ice so that the Kongs can avoid Snapjaw.[4] [5] Either way, Clapper claps his flippers together after being jumped on. The water is only cooled for a few seconds,[6] reverting afterward. The Donkey Kong Land 2 equivalents of Lava Lagoon and Clapper's Cavern feature Clapper in the same capacities, but the latter only sees the Kongs crossing the frigid water, having no Snapjaws.

Donkey Konga 2[edit ]

Clapper's artwork appears in the Freestyle Zone of Donkey Konga 2 .

Donkey Kong Bananza[edit ]

In Donkey Kong Bananza , a sand drawing of Clapper and Glimmer facing each other can be found on the beach near the ruins area of DK Island.
