- “Ahh! Sweet, savory gold!”
- —Growtone, Donkey Kong Bananza
The Growtones are large, golden Fractones resembling baobabs that appear in Donkey Kong Bananza . They are found in multiple layers throughout the Underground World, appearing next to a circular podium. When approached, they ask Donkey Kong to feed them large quantities of gold, which causes them to grow taller and create branches that spawn Banandium Gems upon completion; not too dissimilar to the Hungry Lumas from Super Mario Galaxy . Up to three branches can be created before the Growtone is completely sated, after which no further gold can be fed to them.
In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, a statue of Growtone can be collected and placed at the north side of the Northwest Beach on DK Island.
