Bananza

This article is about the mechanic. For the game, see Donkey Kong Bananza.

A Bananza is an ancient power bestowed by the elders of the Underground World upon Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Bananza , which he can use Bananergy to activate to transform into a more powerful form of himself. There are five types of Bananzas, each summoning a unique form: the Kong Bananza, Zebra Bananza, Ostrich Bananza, Elephant Bananza, and Snake Bananza. After Donkey Kong learns a Bananza, the player can hold L Button and R Button to have him perform a Drumbeat and Pauline sing to activate it for a short amount of time, during which the player can switch between forms with Left Button and Right Button or deactivate it with another Drumbeat. After the Bananza transformation wears off, Donkey Kong can collect gold or consume a Banandium Melon to increase his Bananergy to be able to transform again. Donkey Kong can also activate a Bananza without a full Bananergy meter by using Melon Juice. At the bottom of the Planet Core, on the Banandium Root Tower, and in New Donk City, due to the locations being in close proximity to the Banandium Root, the decreasing Bananergy meter disappears and Bananzas can be used indefinitely.

Bananzas cannot be activated while Pauline is missing (such as during the first visit to the Groove Layer) or unwilling to sing (such as during Void Kong's fight in the Forbidden Layer).

If the game is beaten without learning all Bananzas, then all missed Bananzas are automatically learned in an off-screen revisit to the Underground World by Donkey Kong and Pauline one month after King K. Rool is defeated, but two months before the post-game starts at Ingot Isle Cave-In.[1]

While not a Bananza, King K. Rool's King of Rot form is activated in a similar way, with K. Rool pounding his belly instead of his chest.
