Relatives

Buzzoids are flying enemies in Donkey Kong Bananza that first appear on the Lagoon Layer. They are golden wasp-like creatures with large abdomens that sport both spikes and a propeller, which allows it to fly. Buzzoids carry small chunks of terrain and attack by throwing them at Donkey Kong. Once they throw the chunk they are holding, they take a few seconds to generate a new projectile. Due to Buzzoid abdomens being spiked, Donkey Kong takes damage upon making contact and cannot harm them directly, regardless of if he is attacking; however, hitting them with a chunk of terrain will defeat them without injuring Donkey Kong, as well as detonating a Boom Rock in their vicinity. It is possible to take the chunk that a Buzzoid is carrying.

In the Planet Core and New Donk City, Buzzoids are replaced by Zingers, wasp enemies originating from Donkey Kong Country . Zingers function identically to Buzzoids.

In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, a statue of a Buzzoid can be collected and placed at the southern side of the Jungle Ruins on DK Island. An Emerald Perk called "Buzzoid Demolisher" can appear during an Emerald Rush, which increases the amount of emerald ore that appears after defeating a Buzzoid.

Naming[edit ]

"Buzzoid" is derived from "buzz", the onomatopoeia for the sound produced by a wasp, and the suffix "-oid" that is shared by most enemies found in the Underground World, in reference to the Void Company which created them.
