Bee Mario is a form of Mario and Luigi that debuts in Super Mario Galaxy . When Mario takes this form, his hat becomes a brown helmet with yellow antennae, his overalls turn yellow with brown stripes, his shoes turn reddish-brown (Luigi's color scheme is reversed from this), and he grows a stinger (although it cannot damage enemies and is simply for decoration) and small wings, which allow Mario to take flight in a similar manner to a honeybee for a short time.

Super Mario series[edit ]

Super Mario Galaxy / Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit ]

In Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 , and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 , Mario (or Luigi) take the Bee form by obtaining a Bee Mushroom. When Mario flies, his fly gauge will decrease unless he refills it by collecting coins, clinging to honeycombs, or landing. The fastest way to refill the gauge while flying is to stomp on a non-playable character (including enemies) or a shell. Mario is also able to climb honeycombs and walk on flower petals and clouds. Mario will lose this form by taking damage or touching water, though it is possible for him to go underwater due to a glitch in the Sea Slide Galaxy. Bee Mario is unable to hit ? Blocks, use advanced jump moves, and pick up shells. Also, his Spin radius will become smaller and honey with a yellow trail will replace the regular blue cosmic-looking spin trail, though this does not apply to spinning while crouched or clinging onto a honeycomb, which will use the latter trail instead.

If Bee Mario collides with a wall while spinning midair, he will be able to spin repeatedly without without any waiting period or touching the ground, allowing the player to spin as fast as they can shake Wii Remote or Nunchuk (or pressing X Button / Y Button or shaking Joy-Con (L) Joy-Con (R) in Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the enhanced Nintendo Switch ports of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 ) until they do land on a surface.

Bee Mario (and Bee Luigi) can be used in the Honeyhive Galaxy, the Gold Leaf Galaxy, the Sea Slide Galaxy, the Sand Spiral Galaxy, and the Honeyclimb Galaxy. This ability returns in Super Mario Galaxy 2, only usable in Honeybloom Galaxy, Honeyhop Galaxy, and in the game's credits after collecting 120 stars.

When in Bee Mario form, if Mario is behind an object, his shadow is not in the shape of Bee Mario, but as normal Mario. This applies with all of Mario's forms in the Super Mario Galaxy games.

Super Mario Run[edit ]

A Kingdom Builder statue of Bee Mario was made available during the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 event in Super Mario Run . It could be unlocked by completing all of Mario's missions, while a gold version of it could be unlocked by completing three of Bowser's missions.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games[edit ]

Bee Mario also appears as a costume in the Wii version Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games . To get the costume, the player needs to get to the Secret Store and buy the Black Shopping Card. The same costume appears in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games , Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games .

Mario Tennis Open[edit ]

In Mario Tennis Open , a Bee Mario racket and a Bee Mario costume can be unlocked. The costume is obtained by giving eight characters a star rank, while the racket randomly appears in the shop after a tennis match and can be purchased for 1,300 coins for Miis to use.

Mario Golf: World Tour[edit ]

In Mario Golf: World Tour , a Bee Mario costume, Bee Mario golf ball, and Bee Mario golf club set can be unlocked. The golf ball and clubs appear in the shop after playing rounds, and the costume becomes available when the player succeeds 20 times in Endless Shot Practice.

Minecraft[edit ]

In the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack in Minecraft , Gold Armor is replaced by a Bee Suit.

LEGO Super Mario[edit ]

Bee Mario appears as a Power-Up Pack for LEGO Super Mario.

      Press A Button to hover, and control your movement by tilting Nunchuk Control Stick. Your Flying Meter will continue to go down while you press A Button. If your Flying Meter reaches zero, you will begin to fall, so be careful. You can also stick to honeycomb walls and walk on clouds and flowers as Bee Mario.[1]
    • English (United Kingdom):
      Hold down the A Button to hover. Use the Control Stick to control the direction Mario hovers. Be careful – the Fly Meter will steadily decrease as Mario hovers upwards and once it is empty Mario will fall. Mario can also climb Honey Walls by sticking to them.[2]

Wicked Wasp Wario in Mario Kart World
  • In the March 2018 wallpaper and calendar for LINE, Kinopio-kun is shown wearing a bee costume resembling Bee Luigi's.
  • In Mario Kart World , one of Wario's outfits that he can unlocked from eating Dash Food is the Wicked Wasp, which has a similar appearance to Bee Mario and Bee Luigi. His hat and overalls keep the same colors as Bee Luigi's, but he retains brown shoes, purple sleeves, and the same shape of hat as his regular hat. His collar is also yellow and flower-shaped.
