A Glow Block,[1] also called a Light Block,[2] is an object in New Super Mario Bros. Wii . Glow Blocks are white blocks with eyes similar to those on Rotating Blocks from Super Mario World . These blocks emit light that Mario and the other characters can use to illuminate dark areas. The characters must carry them in order to explore different areas with the help of the blocks' light. To pick up a Glow Block, the player must shake Wii Remote and press and hold One Button at the same time. A Glow Block can also be used as a projectile, by throwing it to the enemies, in a similar fashion to Super Mario Bros. 2 's physics. If a player character is on Yoshi, the latter can eat a Glow Block and carry it with him that way. Glow Blocks appear in World 2-5, World 5- Ghost House, World 6-6, and World 8-4.

Glow Blocks also appear in Mario Party 10 in the minigame Murky Maze.

Profiles[edit ]

  • Trading Card description: "Don't get caught in the dark without a Glow Block! These white boxes are found on the ground in dark areas, like caves and haunted spots. This illuminating item will help guide you when visibility is low. Just remember that you can't use other weapons, like fire or ice balls, while holding a Glow Block."
