Weeping Core, Mario & Luigi: Brothership

The Weeping Core is the form Reclusa takes after Mario and Luigi confront him inside Weeping Reclusa during the final boss battle of Mario & Luigi: Brothership . It is a massive spiky orb made up of metal plates with a single eye.

In battle, the Weeping Core has two main attacks. For its first attack, it extends electrified arms and spins them around at Mario and Luigi. These function like the arms or tentacles in the battles with Cackletta and Elder Princess Shroob from the first two games, and must be jumped over. The speed and direction of the Weeping Core's movement will change throughout the attack, meaning the timing will differ every few seconds.

For its second attack, it charges into Mario and Luigi, who have to counter it with their hammer. If they succeed, the hammer will be sent flying and caught by the other bro, who has to repeat the process. On the other hand, if they fail, they will be sent flying, and the move will end after the next hit, regardless of whether it was countered successfully or not. If Mario and Luigi successfully counterattack enough times, the Weeping Core will jump at the brothers, who will stop it with their hammers. X Button must be tapped repeatedly to counter the boss one more time, dealing additional damage and ending the attack.

The Weeping Core also has the ability to analyze and guard against attacks that the Bros. use against it too many times. The first time a Bros. Attack or standard hammer strike lands, it will analyze the attack, and the same thing will occur on the second use as well. If they try to use the attack a third time, the Weeping Core will successfully guard against the attack, permanently minimizing damage taken.

Regardless, once enough damage is taken, the Weeping Core will explode and reveal Reclusa, starting the final phase of the boss battle. Defense boosts against attacks that were fully analyzed by the Weeping Core carry over into the final battle against Reclusa.
