Spider Webs,[1] or simply webs,[2] appear in several Super Mario games, being commonly seen around spider-like enemies like Scuttlebugs or in spooky locations. In many instances, they are interactive, with players being able to climb or destroy them.

Green House[edit ]
Spider webs appear in Green House , from which spiders climb down towards the flowers.
Donkey Kong Country / Donkey Kong Land series[edit ]
Spider webs in the Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land series can be created by Squitter to attack enemeies with and create temporary web platforms to stand on.
Wario World[edit ]
A giant web takes up the center of the stage during Spideraticus' boss fight in Wario World . He attacks Wario while standing on this web. Wario can walk on the web, but he cannot jump from it, preventing him from easily mounting Spideraticus in order to Ground Pound it.
Mario Party 7[edit ]
Webs appear in the Spider Stomp minigame of Mario Party 7 . They have to be shot at to be destroyed so that players can progress in the minigame. Webs also appear as hazards shot by the Scuttle Bugs, temporarily stunning the target on contact.
Super Mario series[edit ]
Super Mario Galaxy[edit ]
A giant web appears in the mission Tarantox's Tangled Web of Super Mario Galaxy . Tarantox is fought on this giant web, and on its edges are Sling Pods that must be used to attack Tarantox. Coins are also stuck to the web and they can be freed by hovering the Star Pointer over them.
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit ]
Webs appear in New Super Mario Bros. 2 . These webs can be climbed much like a fence, the only difference being that they disappear for roughly a second after the player lets go of them before reappearing. They only appear in World 3-3 and World Flower- Ghost House, where they are fairly common.
Paper Mario series[edit ]
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit ]

Webs in Paper Mario: Sticker Star appear mainly in World 3. Mario first encounters them at Rustle Burrow. When he tries to approach a Wiggler Segment, the web underneath it breaks and causes it to fall into the hole. After Mario jumps into the hole, he is bounced by several webs on the way down, causing him to lose all of his stickers and Kersti in the process. In the burrow, the Wiggler Segment and Comet Piece are stuck behind giant webs. The webs can be broken with Mario's hammer. During the fight with the Big Scuttlebug, it makes a web that traps Mario if he uses a jump attack on it. It must be destroyed using other types of stickers. To reach and free Kersti, Mario must repeatedly jump on webs to break them.
At Tree Branch Trail, a Wiggler Segment is stuck to a web. This web can also be broken with the hammer. One web is suspended over a pool of poison and another is found on a path between two trees. They can be broken with jumps.
Paper Mario: The Origami King[edit ]
In Paper Mario: The Origami King , spider webs are found throughout the Temple of Shrooms. Many of them are trapping faceless Toads who must be rescued. Scuttlebugs also attack Mario by shooting balls of webbing at him.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon[edit ]
Webs in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon are environmental objects on which collectibles like Gold Bars can sometimes be either stuck on or behind. Webs in the missions Sticky Situation and Confront the Source have to be burnt by Luigi as part of the objective.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit ]
Webs in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam can be found in Gloomy Woods. Paper Mario can cross them to reach blocks only he can hit. In a cave in Twinsy Tropics, webs block paths in a timed area. They can be dashed through, with ones that have more threads taking longer to break. As such, the party needs to choose the paths with the thinnest respective web.
Mario Kart Tour[edit ]
Spider Webs in Mario Kart Tour are minor obstacles in Piranha Plant Pipeline and its R variant. In both variants, they are scattered in the red and blue pipelines, facing oncoming drivers. They slow drivers down on contact while very briefly covering their view with a film of silk, similarly to how Bloopers and Inky Piranha Plants cover a driver's view with ink. Spider Webs can be destroyed by driving into them or throwing an item at them, giving bonus points in the process.
