Effect Allows Mario to quickly navigate the desert.
“Feast your eyes on the Boot Car Type B racer! It eats up desert terrain like a tourist at a buffet! And when you hit that turbo button? Hoo-eeee! Better hold on to your mustache, cowboy!”
Toad mechanic , Paper Mario: The Origami King

The Boot Car (also known by its full name, the Boot Car Type B) is a Goomba's Shoe-like vehicle that appears in Paper Mario: The Origami King . It is lent to Mario by the mechanic at the end of Breezy Tunnel and is used to cross terrain in a shorter amount of time, though it can only be driven while leaving Breezy Tunnel and throughout the Scorching Sandpaper Desert. According to the mechanic, the Boot Car has an output of "150 Yoshis" (a reference to horsepower) and a top speed of "Golden Mushroom" (a reference to the Mario Kart series). Mario can use the Boot Whistle given to him by the mechanic to call the Boot Car to his current location.

The player controls the Boot Car by using Left Stick to steer and holding ZR Button to speed up. Mario can defeat enemies instantly without engaging in battle by driving into them while using the speed boost. While driving around in the Boot Car with Olivia and Professor Toad, the two occasionally exchange dialogue.

When Mario reaches Shroom City, he must park the Boot Car at the parking spot in front of the entrance, as it cannot be driven inside. The nearby Snifit (a Toad after the yellow streamer is destroyed) tips Mario one coin if he parks on the spot perfectly.

During the Origami Festival, Luigi is riding the Boot Car while talking to the Toad mechanic, who is in turn riding Luigi's kart.

A Collectible Treasure of Boot Car (No. 60) can be found by having Professor Toad dig into the glowing spot at the south-eastern ruins of the Scorching Sandpaper Desert.

Notes[edit ]

  • In the Japanese version, the Boot Car's full name is ブーツ2000GT-R (Boot 2000 GT-R), and is stated to be "the latest model developed by Toad Motors". "GT-R" stands for "Gran turismo and racing," and is often used to indicate a high-performance car model. The name specifically refers to the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R, a notably formidable sports car.
