Sacking Selwyn

Sacking Selwyn is an optional Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy that pits you directly against the Poidsear Coast Infamous Foe, Silvanus Selwyn. Upon speaking to a resident of the Cragcroft Hamlet, you'll learn that the Ashwinders have occupied Clagmar Castle which has disrupted the trade in the area.

The quest giver for Sacking Selwyn is Hyacinth Olivier, a Cragcroft Hamlet resident that you can find toward the northern side of town. Hyacinth will explain that although the Ashwinders are a nuisance, she believes that they'll leave the area if their leader, and Infamous Foe, Silvanus Selwyn is dealt with.

To take on Selwyn, hop on your broom and fly southwest toward the ruins of Clagmar Castle. When you reach Clagmar Castle, it's best to approach the area stealthily and use Revelio to gather as much intel as possible before infiltrating the encampment. The Ashwinder hideout is full of highly skilled wizards, so it's recommended that you isolate the Ashwinders patrolling the perimeter of the camp and stealthily take them out using Petrificus Totalus. When you've dwindled the number of Ashwinder troops, head toward the center of the camp to confront Silvanus Selwyn.

How to Defeat Silvanus Selwyn

During your battle against Selwyn, he will only use two spells: Expulso and a slow-firing lighting attack. Selwyn's Expulso can be blocked and parried, so try your best to stun him by holding Protego to launch a counter-Stupefy attack. Though his lightning cannot be blocked or parried, the spell has a lengthy cast time that gives you a liberal window to dodge roll out of the area or stun him with an attack.

Once you've defeated Selwyn, fly back to the Cragcroft Hamlet and speak to Hyacinth Olivier to collect your reward and complete this Side Quest!
