Portrait In A Pickle
Once you talk to the portrait, it'll tell you it's been kidnapped. By students who paid thieves to steal the painting's other frame. After that, you can say one of the following:
- I'm sorry to hear that.
- I'm not sure that's true
The painting will go on to say that it's important for it to be returned. When it says that, you can say the following:
| All dialog options | |
|---|---|
| I'll see what I can find out | This option will further the quest. |
| Who's Astoria Crickett and why would she take your frame? | The painting will explain who the student is and why they took the frame |
| What do you do for the Headmaster? | The painting will explain that they overhear a lot of information and reports back to the Headmaster. |
| Can you see anything from your other frame? | The painting will say it can see a ruin near water. |
Now that you've finished talking to the painting, travel to Hogsmeade and confront Astoria. She'll quickly admit to stealing the frame. After she says that, you can say one of the following:
- I agree. He's awful
- He's not that bad.
Astoria will explain that all he does is spy and makeup lies about students. She'll tell you that she doesn't know where he's at, but some bandits near the coast will know.
Once you're done talking to her, you'll have to travel to Marunweem Lake to find the frame. It'll be near the Marunweem Ruins Floo Flame. When you get near the frame, be ready for a fight because it's filled with bandits that want to kill you.
After you dealt with all the enemies, look for the staircase leading down. It can be found near the merlin trial, as shown in the picture below.
To open the door, you'll have to unlock a level 2 lock. You'll find the painting near a fireplace when you open the door. The painting will then demand you take it back to the Three Broomsticks, and you'll have the option to say the following:
| All dialog options | |
|---|---|
| Let's get out of here. | You'll have returned the painting back to the Three Broomsticks, and the quest will end. |
| Returning you to the Three Broomsticks isn't my only option. | The painting will question what you mean by that. |
| I could take you to the Hog's head instead. | The painting will think you're joking and demand you take it back to the Three Broomsticks. |
| I could burn you. (You can only say this if you say Returning you to the Three Broomsticks isn't my only option.) | The painting will then call your bluff. |
| Very Well. Burning it is (You can only say this if you say I could burn you) | The painting will say it can see a ruin near water. |
| I could burn you, but I won't (You can only say this if you say I could burn you) | The painting will thank you for not burning it, and you'll have to decide where to place it. |
| Never mind | The painting will demand you return it back to Three Broomsticks. |
Burning The Painting
If you decide to burn the painting, you'll have to use a fire-based spell to set it on fire. Once it's destroyed, you'll complete the quest.
Return The Painting To The Three Broomsticks
If you return the painting back to the Three Broomsticks, it'll be happy you've done so, and the quest will be complete.
Return The Painting To The Hog's Head Inn
The painting will start insulting you and say how disgusting the place is. Once it says that, you can say one of the following:
- I know.
- It's not that bad.
After the two of you are done talking, you'll complete the quest.
