Start with an initial placement in an operations or operations support role in the ADB headquarters in Manila, Philippines. This initial assignment offers hands-on experience and exposure to our core operations, policies, and procedures, equipping you with the knowledge and insights to thrive and grow within the organization.
After 18 months, you will transition to a rotational assignment in another area of ADB. This will be aligned with both your career interests and our organizational needs, allowing you to grow your professional experience and deepen your subject matter expertise. It’s a valuable opportunity to advance professionally while contributing in a new and meaningful context within ADB.
You will get to participate in a wide spectrum of activities, from facts-finding missions to policy studies and project executions. You’ll also be part of our Young Professional mentorship program, where our experienced technical international staff, many of whom began their careers as Young Professionals, will provide guidance and support that empowers you to achieve your full potential.
To be eligible for the ADB Young Professionals Program, you must:

Prepare for a multi-stage selection process if you are shortlisted. This includes an online assessment followed by a video interview where you record answers to pre-set questions in your own time. If you progress past this stage, you will be invited to panel interviews that take place between December and February.

For the ADB Young Professionals Program, only applicants 32 years old and below will be considered.
You need to have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience to be considered for the ADB Young Professionals Program, including internships.
Yes, you can apply again regardless of how far you have progressed in the application process previously, if you meet the eligibility requirements.
You will be offered a 3-year fixed term appointment. At the end of this period, the appointment may be extended once, not extended, or converted to a regular appointment, at the discretion of ADB.
Young Professionals are international staff recruited at grade YP1 on a 3-year fixed term appointment with option to regularize. After the first 12 months probationary period, confirmed Young Professionals will be promoted to grade YP2. A Young Professional’s promotion to Grade TI1 occurs upon absorption and regularization into an assigned position.
You will start your term with an 18-month initial assignment to either a solutions department (such as Climate, Thematic, or Private Sector Operations Department) or a major non-operational department in HQ (such as Economic Research and Development Impact Department (ERDI) or Office of Markets Development and Private Partnership (OMDP)). Once you complete your assignment and are cleared for rotation, you will be assigned to another area.
Project-oriented learning experience for graduate students through research assignments based on current operational needs.
Post-graduate scholarship for studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields.
Sharing opportunity for researchers and academics with ongoing or recently completed economic research at the ADB headquarters in Manila.
