ADB's Work in Pakistan

ADB continues to support Pakistan’s economic recovery by strengthening public finance, social protection systems; helping with post-flood reconstruction; improving food security, social and human capital, urban services, and transport and energy infrastructure; and boosting climate action. ADB operations remain aligned with Pakistan’s evolving economic and development priorities.

To date, ADB has committed 764 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling 43ドル.4 billion to Pakistan.

Forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.

Development indicators for Pakistan, including a selection of economic, environmental, and social indicators used globally to track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.

Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.

The Pakistan Resident Mission was opened in 1989 and provides the primary operational link for activities between ADB and the government, the private sector, civil society stakeholders, and development partners. The resident mission engages in policy dialogue, country partnership strategy development and programming, and portfolio management, while also acting as a knowledge base on development issues in Pakistan.

The Pakistan government agency handling ADB affairs is the Economic Affairs Division (Ministry of Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization).

PRM will be closed on these dates:

  • New Year's Day: 1 January (Wednesday)
  • Pakistan Day: 24 March (Monday), in lieu of 23 March
  • Eid-ul-Fitr*: 31 March, 1 April (Monday, Tuesday)
  • Eid-ul-Azha*: 6, 9 June (Friday, Monday), in lieu of 7, 8 June
  • Ashura-e-Muharram*: 7 July (Monday), in lieu of 6 July
  • Independence Day: 14 August (Thursday)
  • Eid Milad-un-Nabi*: 5 September (Friday)
  • Birthday of Quaid-e-Azam/Christmas: 25 December (Thursday)
