Timor-Leste has taken major steps toward joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, but challenges remain. Strengthening governance, promoting investments, expanding trade, and enhancing human capital are still needed.
ADB has been instrumental in addressing infrastructure bottlenecks and institutional constraints in Timor-Leste, contributing to paving the way for sustainable development. ADB’s expanded project portfolio now bolsters the Government of Timor-Leste’s initiatives to create a favorable environment for private sector growth and economic diversification.
To date, ADB has committed 81 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling 766ドル million to Timor-Leste.
Forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.
Development indicators for Timor-Leste, including a selection of economic, environmental, and social indicators used globally to track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.
Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.
The project will improve the facilities at the Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili mainly by upgrading the airport runway to meet the requirements recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization, and configuring other airport facilities to conform to the upgraded runway.

The Timor-Leste Resident Mission (TLRM) was opened in 2000 and provides the primary operational link for activities between ADB and the government, the private sector, civil society stakeholders, and development partners. The resident mission engages in policy dialogue, country partnership strategy development and programming, and portfolio management, while also acting as a knowledge base on development issues in Timor-Leste.
