The Asian Development Bank has been in partnership with Tajikistan since 1998. The bank supports the country's national development priorities with a focus on strengthening human capital, boosting climate resilience, and developing strategic infrastructure.
Tajikistan has achieved strong economic performance over the past decade, with an annual growth rate averaging above 7%. However, challenges remain, including high vulnerability to climate change resulting in increased risks of disasters triggered by natural hazards, heat stress, and glacial melt. The economic base remains narrow, with limited private investment and a shortage of decent domestic jobs.
To date, ADB has committed 167 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling 2ドル.7 billion to Tajikistan.
Forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.
Development indicators for Tajikistan, including a selection of economic, environmental, and social indicators used globally to track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.
Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.
ADB approved the BRACE program to help Tajikistan expand social assistance for poor and vulnerable people, support domestic food production, safeguard small businesses, and support the employment of returning migrants.
