Sand is a type of court in the Mario Tennis series. It generally has very slow ball speed and weak bounce strength. It might be based on the real sand courts used in beach tennis.

History[edit ]

Mario Tennis Open[edit ]

Originally called the Sand Court, it first appears in Mario Tennis Open as the Wario Dunes court. It has slow ball speed and weak bounce, and is used in the Flower Cup.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash[edit ]

The Sand Court is an unlockable court in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash . It is unlocked after 20 plays or by spending 4,000 coins on the unlocks menu. The court plays similarly to its Mario Tennis Open iteration, featuring the lowest ball speed and the weakest ball bounce. Drop shots are thus more effective on this court than other courts.

Mario Tennis Fever[edit ]

In Mario Tennis Fever , the Sand Court returns as one of the six available surfaces for the Academy Court in the Mushroom Tennis Academy. The court can be unlocked by being admitted to the tennis academy in the game's Adventure mode. Again, it has the slowest ball speed (1/5) and weakest bounce (1/5) possible.
