Fever Shot

A Fever Shot is a powerful type of shot in Mario Tennis Fever . Each Fever Shot is associated with a specific Fever Racket. A player can hold up to two Fever Shots in their Fever gauge (or FV gauge), starting a game with one already charged. The gauge can be charged by rallying the ball during normal gameplay, with the second shot taking longer to charge than the first. Fever Shots can be activated with Single Joy-Con Top Button and when used, cause time to briefly slow down so the shot can be aimed with Left Stick. In doubles matches, both partners can hit a Fever Shot at the same time.

There are two types of Fever Shots: Shots (e.g.: the Spiny Shot or the Thwomp Shot) or Boosts (e.g.: the Metal Boost or the Amp Boost). Boosts take effect immediately on the player, temporarily granting them or the balls they return special traits. Shots take effect whenever the ball next bounces on the court, creating an obstacle. If the opponent manages to hit that type of Fever Shot back before it touches the ground, the Fever Shot will not be activated and can take effect on the user's side of the field. This move is called a Fever Shot Counter. Activating a Fever Shot while the player is too far from the ball gives them a temporary speed boost to potentially reach the ball in time. If they cannot reach the ball, the gauge is not depleted.

All Fever Shots deal damage in a small area where the ball lands for the first time.
