Lakithunder[1] is the boss of World 7 in New Super Mario Bros. He is a large black-shelled Lakitu with stylized yellow-rimmed sunglasses and a black collar who rides a yellow-eyed dark cloud. Due to the dark-colored cloud and the distinctive lighting on his head, he is visually reminiscent to the Thunder Cloud. He can swoop towards the player and also throws Spinies like the other Lakitus, though the Spiny Eggs he drops bounce around erratically. He can even let thunderbolts loose from his cloud that strike directly below him. The player must jump on Lakithunder's head three times when he swoops down low in order to defeat him.

At the start of the game, Peach's Castle is attacked by a similar gray storm cloud that strikes with lightning. Out of every enemy working for Bowser in New Super Mario Bros., these two traits are exclusive to Lakithunder and the storm cloud, though it is not confirmed whether or not they are considered the same entity.
