Crows appear in the Super Mario franchise as part of the environment in dark and gloomy areas. Crows make their first full appearance in the Super Mario franchise in Luigi's Mansion , but they only gain a more prominent role in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door as inhabitants of Twilight Town, and later in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon as enemies. In addition, several species from the Super Mario franchise, most notably Pidgits and Crowbers, are based on crows.

A crow is featured as the solution to puzzle 6-H of the Kinoko Course in Mario's Picross .
Luigi's Mansion series[edit ]
Luigi's Mansion[edit ]
Two crows appear in the introductory cutscene of Luigi's Mansion , one with yellow eyes and the other with pink eyes. They are sat on a tree branch, watching Luigi as he enters the mansion.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon[edit ]
Crows[1] appear in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon as pests, this time being quite short and lean, their eyes are on the front of their heads, and their feathers are purple. They also appear in large swarms. They can hurt Luigi, but he can suck them up with the Poltergust 5000 or flash the Strobulb to defeat them, which makes them drop a bill or some hearts. Most crows in the game are found in Haunted Towers.
Luigi's Mansion 3[edit ]
Crows appear in Luigi's Mansion 3 as enemies. They behave the same way as in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, but they now also have a swooping attack similar to Crowbers in the New Super Mario Bros. games. They have also been redesigned to more closely resemble the ones from the first game's intro, but now with a smaller and sharper beak, brighter-glowing eyes, and more detailed feathers.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit ]
Crows appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on trees in Twilight Town. When Mario talks to them at first, they simply caw; however, when Mario uses Vivian's Veil and hides under a tree, they become much more conversational, thinking they are alone. They discuss a plethora of subjects, ranging from internet stocks to which university their children should attend. Some crows even give tips about gameplay. Vivian explains that they only pretend to be ignorant when people are around. At one point in the game, the crows make a reference to Luigi's Mansion . The behavior of crows in this game likely references the relatively high intelligence of real-world corvids.
Models of the crows from this game make a cameo appearance in Super Paper Mario among Francis' toys.
