Buckets in the Super Mario franchise are objects that often serve minor or varying roles. One first and most prominently appears in Mario & Wario .
History[edit ]
Mario & Wario[edit ]
A bucket appears in Mario & Wario as one of the objects used by Wario to obstruct the vision of the protagonists—Princess Peach, Mario, and Yoshi. The bucket is in the very first stage of Yōsei no Mori and features Mario's "M" insignia when upright, but while the bucket is on a character, the "M" becomes a "W," referencing Wario's "power" over the character.[1]
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[edit ]
In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 , two buckets resembling the one from Mario & Wario during the coin-collecting bonus game. Wario has three chances to pull on a rope for one or the other. If he chooses the bucket with a coin bag in it, his coin total doubles; if he chooses the one with a 10-ton weight, his coin total halves. As such, he can end up with as high as eight times his initial total or as low as 1/8 of it.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[edit ]
A bucket appears in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is used as a hidden warp to the Midas River in Moleville. If the mole girl standing on top of it is given a Carbo Cookie, she jumps off of the bucket, granting access to the falls and river.
Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit ]
The bucket from Mario & Wario appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a trophy. It can be obtained randomly from the Lottery or in one of the single-player modes.
Mario and the Incredible Rescue[edit ]
The book Mario and the Incredible Rescue has Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad fighting Wario in Booster Pass. The fight has Wario driving his plane, as he throws buckets down at the gang. Mario and Yoshi defeat him by jumping up to his plane and placing a bucket on his head, blinding him and causing him to lose control of his plane and spiral out of view.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story[edit ]
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story , the boss Junker directly references the buckets from Mario & Wario, by throwing a bucket onto the head of either Mario and Luigi, and causing them to move forward and backwards blindly, being forced to jump in order to stop their movement and avoid the Thwomp Junker throws above them.
