Hello folks! I request the global renamer to help out with the rename requests sent through the Special:GlobalRenameRequest interface, and, after some experience doing so, give my bit at the private requests to the mail address. I am currently a sysop at Wikifunctions (user page). I have been regularly helping out with deletion and blocks at that wiki, and now wish to help out globally as well. I am an experienced editor at enwiki as well, with New page patroller and other rights, and I operate a bot in the same wiki. I have native-level proficiency in English, Hindi, and Telugu, along with basic understanding of various other Indian languages (I cannot read other scripts, but can understand once transliterated).I have fully gone through the Global rename policy, and will give my very best at following it while also not biting any users who have (un)intentionally chosen a disallowed username. I hope the community gives me this opportunity, thank you for your time! (Please DO PING me if you want my reply, I cannot regularly watch this high traffic page) ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 16:03, 17 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I request "global renamer" permission to help out with the rename requests, I'm berucrate and Sysop in Arwiki and a member at VRT and U4C, and I have read Global rename policy and Global renamers policy very well and I'm very familiar with them, I'm a Volunteer on Wikimedia projects since 2009 and I have extensive experience with user renaming and Usurpation and I can deal with them, I have read most of local Username policies. Also, I have previously helped many users to change their names, especially if their name contained unacceptable phrases or violated policies. I'm good in Arabic, English and French and an active user in several projects and I would like to volunteer and help other global renamers.--Ibrahim.ID (talk) 15:21, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Global rename for SCP-2000

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Status: Done
Not ending before 14:14 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I am SCP-2000, current global rollbacker and zhwiki sysop. The reason I need the global rename permission is that when I handle unblock requests on zhwiki, I frequently need to deal with username change requests. I believe obtaining this permission can help me to handle the unblock request smoothly. If I am become the Global renamer, I will also help to handle the rename request where the new username is written in Chinese / Cantonese. I have already read the Global rename policy and Global renamers. Thank you for your consideration and look forwards for your comments. --SCP -20 00 14:14, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Global rename for V0lkanic

Status: Done
Not ending before 20:03 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello, my name is V0lkanic and I'd like to ask the community to grant me the global renamer right. I have been an admin on Czech Wikipedia since late 2024 (previously being an arbcom member between 2024 and 2025), in the past I also used to work on Slovak Wikipedia, where I am a patroller and rollbacker. Recently I also once again joined the VRT team for info-cs queue, previously being a member between 2023 and 2024. I am applying for this right solely for the purpose of being able to process the requests sent on the Czech noticeboard (and just in case also the Slovak one as well) for username changes. I have already cooperated on this with steward and renamer Martin Urbanec informing him about new requests being added to the noticeboard since around late 2025. Besides Czech and Slovak, I am also mostly fluent in English and can partly speak German, but as stated, I would only like to handle the requests submitted in Czech (and Slovak) language. I have read the Global renamers policy and the Global rename policy. I appreciate your feedback! --V0lkanic (talk) 20:03, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

Global rename for Aelxen

I would like to obtain the Global Renamer right to help process username change requests across Wikimedia projects. I am an experienced contributor on the French Wikipedia, where I serve as an Interface Administrator, Abuse Filter Manager, and VRT member. These roles require trust, discretion, and familiarity with advanced tools. I would be pleased to use this experience to assist the global community with username renames in a timely and careful manner.

Kind regards. Aelxen Équipe EBRC 12:49, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

I wonder why you're not a sysop. Leaderboard (talk) 12:12, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Hello @Leaderboard,
I am not a sysop, because my previous nomination was unsuccessful for various reasons.
However, I am still planning to run in the next election. Aelxen Équipe EBRC 17:53, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Question Question: You originally failed your frwiki request for adminship due to frequent rights requests. You largely have very little cross-wiki experience, though I note at least a little bit of history on French Wikisource, French Wiktionary, and Commons. You hold no advanced rights outside of the French Wikipedia, and your requests for interface adminship and abuse filter manager on the French Wikipedia were both uncontested requests at the bureaucrat's noticeboard. While I don't doubt your trust, and I don't really hold global renamer to be high-risk or anything like that, I would like to ask whether you have any pertinent experience you can point to with regards to renaming or advanced rights in general. EggRoll97 (talk) 09:11, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
Greetings @EggRoll97,
Regarding my experience with renaming, I had already received several VRT tickets in which users asked how to do it, what the conditions were, and so on. I have also performed a global renaming myself for reasons of security and privacy of personal data.
As for my rejected administrator request, it’s true that a number of contributors felt I was chasing status, but that was never the case.
I use all the statuses I have on a regular basis, except perhaps the "abuse filter" status, which I only use in specific cases. Aelxen Équipe EBRC 14:24, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

Done per clear consensus. @Aelxen: Pleaee check your email for mailing list access. EPIC (talk) 15:32, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Requests for global IP block exemption

Global IP block exempt for ImenaOphelia

Status: Not done

I am exempt on both Polish and English Wiktionary. I've also contributed to English and Polish Wikipedia, Polish Wikisource and Commons. I use an always-on VPN, so everytime I want to edit somewhere I am not exempt I have to use a split tunnelled browser, which downgrades my editing experience, thanks, --ImenaOphelia (talk) 09:06, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

It sounds like you already have the solution, configuring your system to not VPN our domains. In case you are missing any, a list of our domains is available here: wikitech:Domains. — xaosflux Talk 04:32, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
What I do now is not „white list" the domains (which I can't do from technical reasons) but use a completely separate browser just for the purpose of contributing to Wikimedia projects which, as I've already mentioned, drastically downgrades my editing experience, thanks, -- ImenaOphelia (talk) 07:27, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
Not done as you have a working solution. Merely wanting to use proxy services isn't an exceptional reason. — xaosflux Talk 09:46, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

Not done, just use w:zh:Special:Upload. — xaosflux Talk 09:19, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
Emmm, as I am not an administrator or any other user with relevant permissions, I am unable to upload files on the relevant page you provided. However, if you did not intend for me to upload, then please disregard my previous comment. Thank you for your patience, and I wish you a smooth editing process. 不会就选日月重光 (talk) 11:59, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Chinese Wikipedia only allows uploading fair use images locally. I guess they intended to upload free-licensed images to Commons, but they can't create an account since they have to use a VPN and their IP has been blocked on Commons.@不会就选日月重光 Hello, you can apply the local IPBE on Wikimedia Commons by following this guideline. Thank you for your understanding. SCP -20 00 14:25, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
@SCP-2000 do they? May be a translation error, but while their upload wizard says one may "consider" uploading free media to commons - it lets you proceed, the translated section says, "However, if you wish to upload it here, please continue filling out this form. You can also use this form to gather information about your file first, and then upload it from here to Wikimedia Commons.". — xaosflux Talk 14:35, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
AND, No , I want to upload this file locally. This way, it can only be used on Chinese Wikipedia. However, others may still decide to move it to Wikimedia Commons or use it elsewhere. If you don't want your file to be moved to Wikimedia Commons, consider adding the tag *Userspace file* (files only for user spaces) or *Esoteric file* (files only for non-entries and related templates, etc.).xaosflux Talk 14:36, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
There is no translation error. But practically, the community would highly encourage that the user upload the free license images to Wikimedia Commons rather the local, as we have to move the file to Commons manually. Just for your information. Thanks. SCP -20 00 14:47, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
OK, well that is a far different statement than saying that project "only allow uploading fair use images locally". — xaosflux Talk 14:49, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Least Action

Status: Not done

I need a vpn to edit all sites except for meta, so i need the global IPBE flag, thanks, --Least Action (talk) 11:13, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

It looks like the only project you usually use took care of this locally already? — xaosflux Talk 14:47, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
Actually not. Sometimes even meta can’t be accessed without proxies. Least Action (talk) 22:58, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
This flag does nothing on metawiki, as it isn't affected by global range blocks. — xaosflux Talk 00:12, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
So maybe what I need for now is a local exemption flag on meta, and I can come back to ask for the global flag if I plan to contribute in other projects. Least Action (talk) 00:53, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
I do get a block message when I need to edit meta through proxies. Least Action (talk) 00:54, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
If you do, that has nothing to do with global blocks, or global block exemptions - it just happens to be a local block. Same on any other project, local blocks always require local exemptions. That you are editing THIS page, it shows you are not hitting a local block. — xaosflux Talk 09:17, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, I might have presented my point wrong. I mean the following:
  1. Sometimes I can access Meta only by proxies
  2. In the preceding case, I get a block message. This request is posted at a time when I don’t need proxies.
  3. When I browse other projects, local accounts can’t be created so I’m logged out, creating confusion.
  4. I need to use meta intermittently when I’m editing on other projects so as to report vandals to SRG, and so on.
Least Action (talk) 11:30, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
For help with metawiki blocks, use an unblock template on your user talk page, or ask over at RFH. The same would be for any local block on any other project. — xaosflux Talk 14:47, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for -Haryad and HaryaddBot

Status: Done

I am truly frustrated that every time I visit any Wikimedia project other than my own language, I am told that my IP address is blocked. I have explained my issue here. Therefore, I am requesting the Global IP block exempt right for both of my accounts. ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 13:44, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

It looks like the underlying block was already changed to no longer apply to logged in users. If a project wants to approve your bot, they can use Special:CreateLocalAccount as part of their approval to attach it. — xaosflux Talk 14:02, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: If you can, please grant the Global IP block exempt right to user:Haryad. If that is not possible, please close the request. ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 14:53, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
Done I added it for a week, attach wherever you need, perhaps using User:Krinkle/Tools/Global SUL.js. — xaosflux Talk 15:44, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Can I no longer edit it after losing my permissions? ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 16:00, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
The block you are facing only affects people that are NOT LOGGED IN. This includes the FIRST time you visit a new project (as it needs to create an account for you). You are already attached to 145 projects (Special:CentralAuth/-Haryad), most of which you have never contributed to. — xaosflux Talk 18:54, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: As you said yourself because I visited the project for the first time, I have been blocked. Because of that I have not been able to even enter the project, let alone edit. Therefore I have requested that right. ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 19:31, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
Are you currently getting a block message somewhere?
Even when this expires, the block won't affect you on those 145 projects you are attached to, and feel free to attach yourself elsewhere in the meantime (then it will no longer be your "first time") - just like it doesn't affect anyone else who is logged in. — xaosflux Talk 19:47, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Look, this is Persian Wikipedia, I have logged in, I have had edits before, it is not my first time, as you can see I still cannot edit. ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 20:03, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
That is a LOCAL BLOCK on that project, it specifically says so - including who the local blocking administrator is. Every one of our projects controls local blocks locally - ONLY administrators from that project can help you with something like that. Global block exemptions are ONLY about GLOBAL BLOCKS and never override LOCAL BLOCKS. — xaosflux Talk 00:44, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Only that fawiki is like that, because of the permission it gave me, I don't have a problem with the other wikis anymore. I will talk to the administrators there. Thanks! ʜᴀʀʏᴀᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴋ 05:48, 6 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Ranjithsiji

Status: Done

I am a bureaucrat in Malayalam Wikipedia, Project coordinator at Wikimedians of Kerala User Group. I am using a TOTP and Yubikey to login. I am a long-time contributor to Malayalam Wikipeida, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata and other projects.

I am currently based in India. I am contributing from various mobile networks which has dynamic IP ranges. Some time I got blocked from editing in some wikis due to IP blocks.

I am requesting Global IP Block Exemption so that I can continue making contributions, sometime critical to projects. I fully understand and agree to follow all Wikimedia policies and guidelines. thank you for your consideration, --Ranjithsiji (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Are these blocks that seem inappropriate? The fix for bad blocks should be to adjust or remove the block, not bypass the block. — xaosflux Talk 18:07, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Due to some of the IP blocks I cannot edit English Wikipedia, Wikimedia commons sometimes. So if I am exempted then I can edit even the IP is blocked. Usually these blocks are on an IP range not single one. Ranjithsiji (talk) 18:28, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
The question was if you think these are just bad blocks, such as blocks that should not apply to logged in users (or anyone). For example, blocks listed as "open proxies" for networks that are not actually open proxies anymore. — xaosflux Talk 18:32, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
The situations I faced was when I logged into English Wikipedia then the page says you cannot edit because the IP is blocked. In most of the time the range is blocked. So even I disconnect my internet and connect again then IP range is not changing and I cannot edit. This not due to my bad behaviour. Sometime I am assigned to another IP range and suddenly everything is fine. I am not editing from open proxies or VPN services It is a mobile internet with dynamic address allocation. Still these blocks affect me. When I am editing from my home network everything is fine. So sometimes I stop editing due to this problem. Ranjithsiji (talk) 18:40, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Done I've added a temporary exemption for you. You seem to be missing my point above, if you are finding blocks that shouldn't be in place they best way to help everyone is to ask to have the blocks reviewed. — xaosflux Talk 18:47, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
I got that. But to apply for a review: First I need to get an unblocked IP, that is not happening most of the time. Second I don't know somebody from that IP range still doing bad things to wiki (This is dynamic mobile internet ranges). Thank you for adding me into exemption. If I face the same problem in future then I will try to ask again. Regards, Ranjithsiji (talk) 18:52, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exemption for NordicMapper

Status: Not done

I operate User:NordicMapper, a small upload account for the Stockholm Archipelago Trail project — an open hiking-trail map combining OpenStreetMap data and Wikimedia Commons photos (https://map.stockholmarchipelagotrail.com). It uploads freely licensed (CC BY-SA 4.0) photos of trail points-of-interest that community members submit and that we manually review and approve before upload, always with author attribution. Uploads run from a Cloudflare Workers backend whose outbound IP range is under a global block, so the account currently gets "Your IP address is in a range that has been blocked on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis." I'm requesting global IP block exemption so the account can upload from that cloud IP range. Volume is low (a handful of curated images); the bot password is scoped to "Edit existing pages" + "Upload new files"; happy to add a bot flag or any further documentation, thanks, — The preceding unsigned comment was added by NordicMapper (talk) 2026年06月19日T22:43:10 (UTC)

Not done as this would be for a single project (commonswiki) - you should apply directly with that local project. — xaosflux Talk 09:09, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Infinty 0

Status: Done

I am an active editor on English Wikipedia (extended confirmed user), where I primarily contribute to articles related to automobiles. In addition, I also edit selected articles on the Chinese Wikipedia. Due to internet restrictions imposed in my region (mainland China), I am required to use a VPN to access Wikimedia projects, as direct connections are blocked by the Great Firewall.

Given that my editing activities are conducted in good faith and in compliance with Wikipedia's policies, I kindly request a global IP block exemption to ensure that my contributions are not disrupted by IP restrictions that may affect VPN users. This exemption would allow me to continue editing and improving Wikipedia content without interruption.

Global IP block exempt for Aerdemsenturk

Status: Not done

I run a small editorial tool (a Commons category/file browser and editor, self-hosted) that performs edits on Wikimedia Commons through the API. The server is hostedon a Hetzner Cloud IP that falls within the globally blocked range 2A01:4F8:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 (blocked by User:AntiCompositeNumber as an open proxy/webhost range, 22 April 2025 – 22 April 2027). This is a legitimate, single-purpose server I control, not an open proxy — but the range-level block prevents all edits from it, including my own. I'm requesting global IP block exemption so I can continue making good-faith edits to Commons through this tool, thanks, --Aerdemsenturk (talk) 22:02, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Update: I've since confirmed the server's IPv4 address also falls under a separate global range block, 91.99.0.0/16 (blocked by User:XXBlackburnXx, same reason: Open proxy/Webhost, Hetzner). So both the IPv6 and IPv4 ranges this server uses are blocked — the exemption request applies to either. Aerdemsenturk (talk) 23:10, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Heer Rayy

Status: Done

Hello Stewards,

I am a long-time contributor to Chinese Wikipedia (User:Heer Rayy, 800+ edits since 2026) and active across multiple Wikimedia projects, including Meta-Wiki and the English Wikipedia.

I am currently based in China, where direct access to Wikimedia projects is restricted by the Great Firewall. As a result, I regularly need to use VPN services or other network configurations to contribute. These connections are often subject to global IP blocks or proxy restrictions, which prevent me from editing, reviewing drafts, or maintaining existing contributions across wikis.

I am requesting Global IP Block Exemption so that I can continue making constructive contributions to Wikimedia projects — particularly translation work between zhwiki and enwiki, and technical maintenance on Meta — without being affected by IP-based restrictions.

I understand Wikimedia policies and commit to using this permission only for legitimate editing activities and constructive contributions.

Hello everyone, I submitted an application over two years ago; however it was closed as unsuccessful at the time due to my cross-wiki activity being considered insufficient. (For reference my previous request can be found here: Steward_requests/Global_permissions/2024-06#Global_rollback_for_Wooze). Since then I have continued to contribute to cross-wiki anti-vandalism work whenever possible primarily by using the SWViewer tool. With the experience I have gained, I am submitting this request in order to better support other users working in this area. Thank you in advance for your time and feedback. I previously requested global rollback in 2023, but withdrew the request after concerns were raised about weak cross-wiki experience at that time. Since then, although my activity has varied over time, I have continued to gain experience in cross-wiki counter-vandalism, including reverting obvious vandalism, spam, and cross-wiki abuse on multiple small projects. Thank you for your consideration. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by USSR-Slav (talk) 01:50, June 5, 2026 (UTC)

Global rollback for Henryk Siuda

Hello, I am an active contributor to the Czech Wikipedia, where I have rollbacker rights, and I would like to obtain global rollbacker rights so that I can use rollback on other language versions of Wikipedia. (I am also active on the Slovak and Polish Wikipedias, and occasionally on the Dutch Wikipedia.) Thank you for the feedback.

Best regards, --Henryk Siuda (talk) 14:54, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

At my previous request, the main concern raised was account age, in particular now that GR includes TAIV auto-reveal. It's been slightly over 3 months since then, and my account will be more than 9 months old before this request closes, which still isn't hugely long, but I believe I've done enough in that time for my editing to be assessed. I also now have experience with TAIV, including on meta which is essentially global. I haven't been as active in antivandalism recently, but have instead done significant antispam work; whereas vandalism is usually reverted within minutes on all but the smallest wikis, even quite large wikis often lack the capacity to deal with subtle spam, which can go unreverted for months or even years. I believe GR would help me by saving time when I am reverting (in one case I needed to revert more than 80 edits by a single user, and Selective Rollback would've been very helpful) and reduce the burden of patrolling on local users. lp0 on fire () 13:52, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Global sysop for Holder

I would like to run for the position of global sysop. I was previously a global sysop from 2015 to 2021. I returned those rights at the time because two-factor authentication became mandatory, and I hadn’t yet found a low-effort way to integrate it into my daily Wikipedia routine — for example, always having to carry my smartphone in addition to my laptop whenever I wanted to edit Wikipedia. In the meantime, I have found such a way and have enabled two-factor authentication. I would therefore like to once again provide administrative support to small projects, as I did from 2015 to 2021, especially the small language versions of Wikipedia. My home wiki is the Alemannic Wikipedia, where I hold sysop and bureaucrat rights. I also have sysop and bureaucrat rights on frrwiki and kshwiki, and sysop rights on dewiki and pflwiki. --Holder (talk) 07:27, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
