- Possibly. The barrier at Meta:Autoconfirmed users is fairly low and would have saved us some of the recent stuff.
- I recall first wanting to comment on the steward request page to notice that this wasn't possible. I noticed since, that I could have used the talk page of that, but then responded at the user's page. e 10:43, 23 January 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Most genuinely new users aren't gonna spend their first few edits editing pages like SRG or Wikimedia Forum (though it might not be the case for "new" users). Thus the chances of a user actually being hit by the protection is very low, and even then there are workarounds to it. --SHB (t • c) 11:17, 23 January 2025 (UTC) Reply
