Development Effectiveness and Results
ADB focuses on results management in its operations, improving the capacities of its developing member countries, and contributing to the global agenda on development effectiveness.
Providing the right development support to clients is not only about the size of the financing or the number of roads or schools built. It is about knowing the project is improving people’s lives in a sustainable way. It is about ensuring that the school educates children with skills to support a country’s economic future, or a new highway is built, that not only spurs growth and fosters trade but also brings tangible benefits to surrounding communities.
ADB implements a results-driven approach to deliver on Strategy 2030, aligning resources with the SDGs to achieve measurable impact. By fostering partnerships, enhancing accountability, and ensuring transparency, ADB contributes to sustainable development and poverty reduction across the region.
ADB reports on progress in delivering its Strategy 2030 and its Midterm Review using a results framework with indicators that cascade across all levels of the organization operationally and programmatically.
Strategy 2030 sets the course for ADB’s efforts to respond effectively to the Asia and Pacific region’s changing needs. Under Strategy 2030 and its midterm review, a road map outlines how the bank will transform in a rapidly changing development landscape and respond to challenges that threaten its vision for a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable region.
ADB’s corporate results framework ensures strategic alignment with Strategy 2030 and serves as a catalyst for enhancing ADB’s development effectiveness. It cascades programmatic work and organizational goals to individuals, ensuring that every action within the organization contributes to strategic objectives. The framework sets performance indicators and targets, which are analyzed annually through the Development Effectiveness Review.
The country partnership strategy includes a results framework to clearly show how ADB's work aligns with the government's development priorities. This framework is a tool to enhance planning for results, periodic monitoring, and reporting on how ADB's operations will achieve development outcomes in line with the government's goals and the country's overarching development impact.
The design and monitoring framework is a key tool for ADB’s project design, implementation, and evaluation. It also provides the basis for monitoring and reporting on ADB’s project performance.
