Allow Drive file suggestions in Chrome browser

You can let your users see Google Drive file suggestions when they search or open a tab in Chrome browser. If a user is signed in to a Chrome profile with their Google Workspace account, they can:

  • Search for Drive files, including files that they haven't yet opened in Chrome browser
  • Open files that Drive suggests based on their recent use of Drive

View Drive file suggestions

To allow users to see Drive file suggestions, turn the feature on in the Google Admin console.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Apps and then Google Workspace and then Drive and Docs.

    Requires having the Drive & Docs administrator privilege.

  2. Click Features and Applications.
  3. Click Surface suggestions in Google Chrome.
  4. Select the recommended option, Allow Drive suggestions for signed-in users whenever a new search is performed or a new tab is opened.
  5. Click Save.
