A Beebee,[1] also known as a Bee,[2] is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins . They are found exclusively in the Tree Zone (Bee Hive Course only). Each of the eight holes in a wall has a different Beebee, the next of which comes out after defeating the previous. Beebees home in on Mario to attack, but a stomp can defeat them. After defeating all eight Beebees or just one from either a spin jump or invincibility, no more Beebees appear. Beebees also have a skeletal counterpart named Skeleton Bees and a heavier one named Bigbee.

Watching with squinty eyes

When they find Mario, they will slowly approach him and try to sting him with their poisonous stinger. When you see the eyes of a bee coming out of its hive, it is a sign that it is coming out. To avoid being stung by the stingers, climb up to a high place and step on them.

Naming[edit ]

Etymology[edit ]

Unlike most mainline Super Mario titles, Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins did not receive officially localized enemy indexes at the time of its release on the Game Boy and not all enemies are listed in its instruction booklets. Consequentially, most available non-Japanese names come from localizations of the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia . The English version of the book refers to the enemy as "Bibi",[4] a romanization of its Japanese name and comparable to the name of its article on Super Mario Wiki from 2013 to 2019, "Bībī".

Names in other languages[edit ]

Unless they are the only name available, names unique to the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia are denoted as such in the "notes" column.
