Steward requests/Global permissions
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions
- Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
- Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request
|
---|
Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} === {{sr-request |status = <!-- don't change this line --> |domain = global <!-- don't change this line --> |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user --> }} ::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC'' The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. |
Requests for global sysop permissions
- Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
- Please also review the Global sysops policy.
- Stewards
- When you give someone global sysop rights, please list them on Users with global sysop access and ask them to subscribe to the global sysops mailing list.

Hello, I am an editor and administrator in the Arabic Wikipedia. Arabic Wikipedia suffers from a lack in global renamers, and currently we have 4 renamers and one of them is not active. I think that I will be able to help in this field, for I am interested in it, available on a daily basis, and active in the encyclopedia (my focus will only be on changing names in Arabic Wikipedia). I also read International Global Renamers Policy, and read about Official Permission Page. Regards.--شيماء (talk) 08:28, 24 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

Requests for global IP block exemption
- Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewards(_AT_)wikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
- Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting global IP block exemption, make sure that:

Global IP block exempt for Xentyr
- Global user: Xentyr (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I'm blocked due to a global IP block placed over the AS of Netskope, a corporate security provider (see Steward_requests/Global/2021-06#Global_unblock_for_163.116.128.0/17 for previous discussions over the whole /17). Can you please exempt my user account so I can resume proper editing? Thanks, --Xentyr (talk) 19:54, 2 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
Global IP block exempt for LanmeiCN
- Global user: LanmeiCN (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I am from China, and all Wikimedia Foundation sites are blocked in my area, so I need to use a proxy to change an IP that can access the Wikimedia Foundation site, but the IP I changed is already on the Wikimedia Foundation site Banned in. I need to edit more Wikipedias besides Chinese Wikipedia, and I have asked in the official telegram group of Chinese Wikipedia that my IP is globally banned. I have read "Global IP block exemption" in detail. Please grant me it, thanks, --LanmeiCN (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- Comment Comment This is not meant to be an oppose, but the fact this user requests several global rights at once gives me a pause. It reminds me of an essay I read in the past. Martin Urbanec (talk) 11:23, 23 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- Comment Comment Hello, Martin Urbanec, due to blocking the use of the proxy, I finally found an IP that was not blocked by the Wikimedia Foundation at random, so I had to apply for it together. -LanmeiCN (talk) 13:14, 23 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- I found that it hasn't progressed for a long time, please ask the administrator to deal with it. -LanmeiCN (talk) 12:19, 3 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
Global IP block exempt for 北纬的星空
- Global user: 北纬的星空 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I am a Wikipedia user from Chinese mainland. I have to go to Wikipedia through proxy now, but my proxy is banned and can not edit Wikipedia page. Today I found that I could access there by changing Hosts file (though not very often). Therefore, I hope the administrator can grant me global IP block exemption to avoid being affected. My user name is 北纬的星空. My current IP address is 101.88.124.123, thanks, --101.88.124.123 11:42, 29 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

abusefilter-helper for 1234qwer1234qwer4
- Global user: 1234qwer1234qwer4 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
Since I became an administrator here on Meta about two months ago, I found myself increasingly working with both local and global abuse filters, monitoring and editing/creating them. Having abusefilter-helper would allow me to view global (and, likely, related local) filter details from other wikis as well as help with filter issues on smaller wikis, such as this case on nawiki (with a public filter). I do admit that when creating filters, I sometimes forget to mark them as private and only notice this a couple minutes later, but I am trying to remember this, and since AFH only allows for viewing filters, it should not be a problem for this role. ~~~~

(削除) Support Support (削除ここまで)No Concerns MXX8 (talk) 13:55, 27 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]- Striking this support. Who are you to be able to make any assessment of this user? Your account is 44 days old and you have been active here two days. What do you even know of this user? — billinghurst sDrewth 14:35, 28 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Billinghurst: I don't think you can do that - not only does this wiki not have a minimum age/edit policy to comment, IPs have commented in the past and their votes did count. Leaderboard (talk) 14:43, 28 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- Says who? Since when? We have struck problematic comment where it is problematic. I have struck it, not deleted, and the stewards will assess the vote and my comment as they see fit. They are not stupid. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:50, 28 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Billinghurst: Here's an example: Steward_requests/Global_permissions/2021-01. Notice that steward -revi notes that there haven't been a restriction for IPs to comment here. Leaderboard (talk) 15:22, 28 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- So I can do it, and the steward will read it and make their own decision as I said in my previous comment. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:36, 28 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Billinghurst: This user seems like they're hat collecting (requesting patroller rights just after 20 or so edits). Even I myself, actually do some patrolling, have about 1000 edits here (although mostly translation from en to en-gb or simple en) still don't have rollback here. SHB2000 (talk | contibs | en.wikivoyage | w:User:SHB2000) 09:57, 1 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Leaderboard:. sigh, but I think Billinghurst is right. See this quote at the top of the page:
- "This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion."
- MXX8 isn't active at all. SHB2000 (talk | contibs | en.wikivoyage | w:User:SHB2000) 01:40, 2 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- I respectfully disagree, MXX8 isn't an active meta editor, but that should really not be a requirement since meta isn't usually the homewiki of editors. They just started editing relatively recently, but they are reasonably active on the English Wikipedia. Also, I don't really think there is a policy of regularly striking out votes unless they come from confirmed socks.Jackattack1597 (talk) 14:58, 2 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

- Being an active meta editor is not a requirement to !vote in discussions. Billinghurst, striking comments in this manner is relatively unheard of and very much not welcoming. And regardless of whether the comment is struck, the reviewing steward will assign weight relative to the given arguments, which as the posed argument is that a new and unexperienced editor doesn’t have any concerns with it, does not have much weight. In the interest of cross-wiki participation and cooperation, I don’t think striking comments in this manner is beneficial. Best, Vermont (talk) 19:41, 4 July 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

- Weak oppose lack of current sysop or similar filter access on any content projects; would want to see that there is direct support from project communities first. Weak oppose in that I don't see any specific red line oppose issues. — xaosflux Talk 14:48, 27 June 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
- Support Support I do not consider the lack of "current sysop or similar filter access on any content projects" as a detriment.
