Libraries

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

This group is for libraries - public, academic, school, law, what-have-you. It is not about code libraries.
Ask questions and/or tell us what your library or organization is up to.

Please add your library to our Drupal libraries roster

Request/Reserve a Room -- is anyone using Drupal to manage this function?

Posted by skilgas on November 22, 2011 at 12:13am

Our library is looking for a way for customers to request a room or equipment reservation from our Drupal site. We would like our staff to be able to select a room for library-sponsored events and programs as well while they are entering the details about the upcoming program. Has anyone got a recipe of modules that might help accomplish this task without being too difficult for the public? If possible, we would like to incorporate a financial piece for accepting deposits.

Template Design

Posted by Hanscraft on November 5, 2011 at 9:37pm

Does anyone have resources (like step-by-step tutorials) for building templates in Drupal? As part of my library job, I'm being pushed into designing templates which will need stuff like image resizing capabilities, uploading stuff, etc. I know very little PHP. The regular Drupal forums haven't been very fruitful so I decided to try out the libraries + Drupal community on here for pointers!

Thanks.

The purpose of this short anonymous survey is to gain insight into the dynamics between Drupal website development firms and their clients. Basically, as a community, we want to take a quick temperature check as to how things are going. If you complete this survey, we’ll share the aggregate results with you.

Free Online Database Class

Posted by trista13 on September 28, 2011 at 6:55pm

I just enrolled in this online class from Stanford: Introduction to Databases (http://www.db-class.org/). I don't have any idea what the quality of the lectures or class materials will be (or how helpful it may be to Drupal developers), but nothing lost in checking it out!

If anyone else enrolls and wants to study together (aka: let me benefit from your superior intellect!) just hit me up.

How to create event registrations?

Posted by Hanscraft on August 4, 2011 at 3:26pm

I am trying to create event registration forms for my library's website. The Signup module its too restrictive in that it won't allow me to easily add custom fields (since the info the Children's Librarian need differs from the adult job search classes) for each event type.

I also need the system to automatically handle email and possibly SMS text messages. It'd be great if the information about registered patrons was ready to export.

Right now I'm experimenting with CCK Signup bit the documentation is nearly nonexistent.

Help!
