Challenges faced when designing for location?

Posted by McRick on December 12, 2014 at 4:37pm

Over the last year, we've worked with UCLA Library and Indiana University Library to design their Library websites. Had a lot of fun and learned a lot. yeah

One of the more challenging aspects was designing for their multiple locations. I'd love to hear from folks what challenges you've faced in designing for locations and how you solved them. I wrote a (long) blog post about the issues we faced in designing for location ... I'll summarize it all here for you.

Anyone looking to build a summer reading site that uses badges?

Posted by SharonatKRL on December 13, 2013 at 6:27pm

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else was looking at online badges for their summer reading sites.

Here is an example of the idea (in WordPress)

http://teensummerchallenge.org/

And if you are looking at this idea how are you going about it, ie hiring a company or building it in house. I would also be curious about the modules are you using?

I know that BiblioCommons has something like this but I am not looking at that option at this time.

Thanks in advance for the information,

At Code4Lib Vancouver, talking about using ILS's for lending tools vs. building a special purpose site for it, and the subject of Drupal came up (of course). Has anyone built a tool-lending Drupal distro for tool lending cooperatives that don't want to go as far as to use a full ILS for that purpose?

Display EBSCO Discovery Results in Block Instead of Page

Posted by mpruitt on October 30, 2013 at 1:59pm

Cheers everyone.

EBSCO provides a Drupal module that will display results from EBSCO on a custom page http://mysite/ebsco/results.

There is a template preprocess function for the page, and a tpl.php file for the page.

Instead of displaying the page, I want to load the results into a custom block. I'm using the API call of
drupal_form_submit('my_form_name', $form_state) to make the submit call. I set the $form_state['variables'] as below before making the call:

// set $form_state array values
$form_state = array();
$form_state['values']['lookfor'] = $search;
