Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Annual growth of consumer prices at 3.0%, monthly at 0.1%
In August, consumer prices increased by 3.0% annually and by 0.1% monthly. In one year, service prices went up by 4.3% and goods prices by 2.3%.

In 2024, foreign inward affiliates represented 3.7% of all observed enterprises in Slovenia. They generated 27.4% of total value added and employed 27.1% of all employees. The most economically important were controlled by Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

More milk produced last year
On about 7,400 agricultural holdings almost 631,000 tonnes of cows’ milk was produced in 2025, 3.6% more than a year earlier. More than 93% of total produced cows’ milk was delivered to dairies from around 3,700 agricultural holdings.

Month-on-month, production in June – the same as in May – increased in services but decreased in trade.

1.5% economic growth in 2025
After revision of annual estimates, Slovenia’s gross domestic product for 2025 was estimated at EUR 71,171 million. Compared to the previous year, it grew by 5.5% in nominal terms and by 1.5% in volume terms. The data for the three preceding years were routinely revised.

Import prices continue to rise both month-on-month and year-on-year
In July, import prices rose again both monthly (by 0.4%) and annually (by 8.0%). The largest monthly increase was recorded in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 9.3%), and year-on-year in coke and refined petroleum products (by 47.9%).

Retail trade turnover up
In July, volume turnover in retail trade grew at both the monthly and annual levels. In trade and repair of motor vehicles, it declined month-on-month and grew year-on-year.

Compared to earnings for May, average gross and net earnings for June increased in nominal terms but decreased in real terms.
