Bolzano Center, Trentino Alto Adige. PoI-4002-IT, PoI-4003-IT and PoI-4006-IT in foreground.

Special Containment Procedures: The measures put in place following the discovery are aimed at ensuring that a variant free of the anomalous traits of SCP-IT-120 is disseminated among the population and that the Foundation is in possession of the only written instance of SCP-IT-120, now stored in a reinforced locker at Site Minerva. Only those who are in charge of the research, subjects involved in experimentation and Level 4 personnel deemed suitable to use it are authorized to read SCP-IT-120, which may subsequently be rewritten or vocalized with the prior approval of the Superintendent or Director Nicola Rossi. Any unredacted instance of SCP-IT-120 on any document is also to be highlighted in red to make it easier to distinguish between it and non-anomalous text. The proposal to employ SCP-IT-120 to facilitate incursions and acquisitions by the MTF is still under consideration by the Superintendent.

The SIR-I "Aureæ Notitiæ" is to track down any subject who uses SCP-IT-120, so that they are questioned about the acquisition of the anomaly and subsequently subjected to appropriate amnestic treatment. If the subject belongs to an Interest Group or an anomalous species, it must be detained pending further decisions by the Ethical-Moral Regulation Section (S-REM).

The subjects named PoI-4001, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7-IT, have been deprived of any possible nomenclative risk and any competent decision on them has been transferred to the jurisdiction of the Polish branch of the Foundation. They currently reside within FP-120 ("Esterberg").

Description: SCP-IT-120 is a person’s name that, when used by a sentient being to identify itself, will attract a series of semantic attributes to the latter that will be perceived by every other person as objectively true. Regardless of the actual nature of the subject, the characteristics perceived on it are:

  • Posing a threat of some kind.
  • The status of leader or any position of authority in relation to others.
  • Having human features not too dissimilar from the norm.

These will be joined by a strong panic response from non-SCP-IT-120 users that will cease after a variable period of time or with the use of SCP-IT-120, which will result in the elimination of any memetic compulsion.

In addition, it has been proven that claiming that one's name is SCP-IT-120 will always be an objectively true statement and its use in documents of any kind will be legally valid.

Acquisition: On 07/02/2019, SSM-X "Consequentia Glacialis" agent Agata Tormalini, on a visit to Bolzano, became aware of numerous rumors about a family that had recently moved there. Such rumors, now confirmed to be mostly the result of SCP-IT-120's effects, portrayed all members of the family as sources of danger to the neighborhood. Intrigued by the story, Agent Tormalini investigated the family members and ended up meeting one of them, now named PoI-4004-IT, in the act of swindling a couple of tourists on the street. When asked for her name, she said it was SCP-IT-120, which caused her to suffer its effects, alarming her and requesting the intervention of the Foundation.

The investigation of possible anomalous qualities possessed by PoI-4004-IT led to the discovery that none of the family members had any birth certificate, social security number, or documents acting on their behalf, but were in possession of documents all bearing the name SCP-IT-120. The findings spread the effects of SCP-IT-120 among the personnel, leading to the subsequent break-in by SSM-IV "Pugnus Ferri" into the home of the aforementioned family, whose members had been designated PoI-4001,2,3,4,5,6, and 7-IT respectively.

The following is the transcript of what occurred during the incursion.

Acquisition Log

Date: 12/02/2019

Assigned Team: SSM-IV "Pugnus Ferri", team β

Subject: A house in the center of Bolzano suspected of hosting anomalous individuals.

Team Leader: Lt. Elena Mattei

Team Members: Agt. Nicola Barba and Agt. Giacomo Russo

Foreword: Since Agents Russo and Barba are the only ones on the team who were told about SCP-IT-120 prior to the mission, they are suffering from its fear-inducing effects.

»BEGIN LOG«

[Lt. Col. Mattei communicates with other team members via walkie talkie. Lt. Mattei is stationed behind the door of the house, while agents Russo and Barba observe the subjects from the two windows overlooking the dining room.]

Lt. Mattei: I repeat, the door is already broken into, as soon as you see me enter the room, you will break in through the two windows. Barba, can you confirm that all the subjects are present?

Agt. Barba: Affirmative. It's a small house and currently they're all in the dining room, as soon as you enter you'll have them in front of you. Be careful, please.

Lt. Mattei: Got it, can you see if they have weapons with them?

Agt. Russo: Approximately, they're using normal kitchen silverware, knives, forks, and stuff like that. If the rumors are reliable that doesn't make them any less threatening, are you sure you don't want to throw soporific grenades and end it here? We could also ask the α team for help right away.

Lt. Mattei: Negative. We are in the heart of an inhabited area, if we use soporifics or bullets, it is inevitable that someone will realize it. Those will be our last resorts in an emergency, understood?

Agt. Russo: I understand, it's just that it seems too risky to me.

Lt. Mattei: Have faith, that's all.

Agt. Russo: Okay-

Agt. Barba: They're starting to get up from the table. You have to strike, now!

[Lt. Col. Mattei opens the door and points his rifle at the offices, agents Barba and Russo break in through two separate windows and in turn point their rifles at the family in turn.]

[All instances are in obvious panic and begin to cling to each other.]

PoI-4003-IT: Dad, what do they want!?

PoI-4001-IT: Whoever you are, I think there is a misunderstanding, we have done nothing!

Lt. Mattei: We don't intend to hurt you, we need you to follow us and answer some questions.

[A communication comes from the command through the walkie talkie.]

Command: According to Tormolini's testimony there is a leader among them, we suspect that they are highly dangerous, they must be separated immediately from the group.

PoI-4002-IT: What are you talking about? We aren't d-

Lt. Mattei: Not now! [turning to the walkie talkie.] Do we have a physical description?

Command: Negative, just a name.

Lt. Mattei: We'll work with it. Tell me the name.

[Lt. Mattei brings the walkie talkie close to his ear, this point of the recording is unintelligible, but Lt. Mattei appears to be visibly alarmed, after which he returns to address the subjects.]

Lt. Mattei: Received. So, which of you is called [REDACTED]?

PoI-4007-IT: I am [REDACTED].

PoI-4003-IT: [REDACTED] is me.

PoI-4006-IT: I, too, am [REDACTED].

PoI-4005-IT: [REDACTED]? That's me.

PoI-4002-IT: I, too, am [REDACTED].

PoI-4001-IT: Ditto. My name is [REDACTED].

PoI-4004-IT: Do I have to say something too or can my name be guessed?

[7 seconds of silence.]

All the SSM present: in unison [REDACTED].

»END LOG«

Final Note: Once the situation was pacified, with a better understanding of the nature of SCP-IT-120 and a formal apology from Lieutenant Mattei, an agreement was reached with the instances to hold an interrogation inside the house with the exception of PoI-4002, 3 and 4-IT. The Command, considering the difficulties that would arise from escorting an entire family from a densely populated center, accepted the conditions given.

Addendum 120-1: Post-acquisition interview.

Interviewees: SCP-4001,5,6 and 7-IT.

Interviewer: Dr. Catia Giusti.

Foreword: At the request of the command, Dr. Giusti was taken to the home of the above-mentioned subjects to conduct the interrogation. Members of the α and β teams of SSM-IV were positioned with light weaponry and civilian clothing in and around the building, so as to ensure the preservation and secrecy of the encounter.

»BEGIN LOG«

Dr. Giusti: For the sake of clarity, I would like to inform you that your nickname has been marked in our documentation as SCP-IT-120, and please do not pronounce it to avoid further inconvenience.

PoI-4001-IT: I understand, we only ask you if you can guarantee the safety of our family.

Dr. Giusti: We will make sure to do this in exchange for information. In the meantime, I inform you that the first step will be to deprive you of the knowledge of SCP-IT-120. The brains are already analyzing it and for now they have concluded that, together with the delinquent behavior of the guy currently referred to as PoI-4004-IT, it has earned you your bad reputation. It will be one less burden.

PoI-4005-IT: My son is not a delinquent! Besides, we can't give you our name, we don't have any other, and we'll lose our disguise! Tell him, little brother!

PoI-4001-IT: Calm-

Dr. Giusti: If I'm not mistaken, I'm beginning to suspect that your name wasn't your only anomalous quality, am I?

PoI-4006-IT: Make no mistake, my husband and I are a hundred years old, my sister-in-law is one hundred and twenty-five. [Points to PoI-4007-IT watching the meeting from the corner of the room.] Our son is seventy-five, our grandson is forty-two, and our daughters are thirty-seven and twenty-five.

Dr. Giusti: Could you kindly explain to me your anomalous nature?

PoI-4001-IT: You see, it all started when my parents kicked me out of the house when they found out that she and I were dating. Classism is still very much in vogue here, and my parents didn't accept that her family wasn't as rich as ours. The fact is that I was alone, and it was night and as I walked to reach it, I saw it, it was engraved on the bark of a pine tree.

Dr. Giusti: Do you mean SCP-IT-120?

PoI-4001-IT: [nods] As soon as I read it, I felt the urge to whisper it, and when I did, I knew it had become my name. So, I ran to her, wanting to give it to her, at least she could have run away from there, but when I tried to give it to her, the name was still mine, but now somehow it was hers too. We could both leave, we decided to go back and take my sister with us [Indicates PoI-4005-IT.] but I still don't know why, not our parents. I still regret it.

[PoI-4001-IT pauses to look at the floor, PoI-4005-IT rests his hand on his shoulder.]

PoI-4005-IT: Don't blame yourself, they deserved it… And if you like, maybe they'll find that trunk too. Maybe they'll catch up with us.

PoI-4001-IT: You're right, I hope so.

Dr. Giusti: I would now like to talk to you about the measures that will be taken against you, and I can also wait if you wish to recover.

PoI-4005-IT: Go ahead, tell us.

Dr. Giusti: Because of its effects, we absolutely cannot leave you in possession of SCP-IT-120, but if we do, we will remove your cover, and even if we find a way to conceal you, your longevity will raise suspicion in the long run. We would then be forced to send you to the Iris.

PoI-4005-IT: Which is what?

Dr. Giusti: Structure for the containment of anomalous humanoids.

PoI-4005-IT: Why does it sound like a prison to me?

Dr. Giusti: It's not, but it's also not the ideal place to keep an entire family. The best alternative I can think of is, since we can't keep you in civil society, integrate you into the anomalous sub-society.

He clears his throat.

Dr. Giusti: So far, you have shown efforts not to be detected and not to deface normality, and you have also been very cooperative, even after we broke into your home. I think I can put in a good word for you, in the meantime let's try to find what is right for you. There would be Nova Cannæ, Butai or Gor-

PoI-4007-IT: We have friends in Tysiąclecie Górne. I don't know if you know of it.

Dr. Giusti: [coughs] Do you mean the fairy city accessible from Częstochowa in Poland? It's familiar to me. It's going to be an avalanche of paperwork but I think I can plan a transfer.

PoI-4006-IT: That would be great, you don't know how much we thank you.

Dr. Giusti: Well. Finally, I think I have guessed the anomalous species of which you are a part, Homo Sapiens Sidhe currently free of nomenclative risks. I just wonder how you managed to hide it.

PoI-4005-IT: I've already told her, the name is our disguise. In itself, we are not too different from you, but it is always better not to risk it.

PoI-4001-IT: Just use the name, you will be able to see beyond the disguise and the truth will be revealed before your eyes.

Dr. Giusti: I am blind.

PoI-4001-IT: Excuse me, I should have figured it out from the cane.

[PoI-4005-6 and 7-IT cover their faces by slamming their right hand against it.]

»END LOG«

Closing Statement: Further investigations by the Social-Anthropological Division (DS-A) have made it possible to confirm the subjects as native entities of the place we do not talk about.

The family was later given new legal names and moved to the neighborhoods dedicated to housing the staff of Site Asclepio, as a provisional measure pending the outcome of Dr. Catia Giusti's bureaucratic operations.

The relocation was carried out under the cover of a further move. It was not considered necessary to erase all traces of the family's stay except for the knowledge of SCP-IT-120, which was eliminated through the airborne dispersal of class A amnestics near the center of Bolzano.

Addendum 120-2: Interview at the Virtus Site on the procedures to be taken regarding SCP-IT-120.

The log contains a written instance of SCP-IT-120 that is about to be shown, and if you have access to this log, we trust that you have the necessary credentials to view it and to maintain the special containment procedures currently in place. Otherwise, the SSM closest to your location will be sent to your address.

Present: Dr. Catia Giusti and Vice-Dir. Paolo Conchistra.

Preface: The two had been arguing passionately for half an hour inside Conchistra's office at the Virtus Site.

»LOG START«

Conchistra: Never! Never! And then never!

Dr. Giusti: Try to listen to me instead of interrupting everything I try to say to you.

Conchistra: No, you have to listen! We are a serious institution, and we cannot bother to satisfy every request of every single anomaly rather than just contain it.

Dr. Giusti: I would understand this argument if it were an isolated anomaly, but here we are talking about a group of humanoid subjects who are themselves part of a key species in the anomalous world.

Conchistra: Have you read the file? Don't name them if you don't want to cause a containment breach in the heart of the site.

Dr. Giusti: This containment measure is only valid for the unfortunate in the middle of the woods, there are no similar risks with the Fae with names as the family in question is now.

Conchistra: That's fine, but anomalous species aside. They were found in possession of a nomenclative-memetic anomaly, even if he finished squeezing their confessions, we cannot send them to Poland because they asked us to.

Dr. Giusti: First, they were only the vector and not an integral part of it, now we can safely deprive them of SCP-IT-120 without any countereffects. Secondly, Esterberg is contained in a miniature dimension closely guarded by Site-120 to make sure that no unauthorized anomalous individuals or information leaks out.

Conchistra: So the plan would be to contain them, but in a city? Really charitable of him, I admit.

Dr. Giusti: I admit that it may seem so. But a nexus isn't a big cell. It's a place where the anomalous can live safely and undisturbed. I would also like to remind you that Esterberg is the major hub of the anomalous in Europe, with the highest rate of Fae population in the memory of the Foundation, where they will reside at their own personal request and will be free under the rules of the Treaty on Free Anomalous Communities.

Conchistra: Everything he tells me just sounds like containment procedures disguised as mercy. I would also like to reiterate that a transfer from one branch to another is no small matter. How could I present it to the branch authorities in Poland without it seeming like a waste of time and resources, if not downright irresponsibility? So, in the end, no, you don't have to do it.

Dr. Giusti: Intended. Thank you for your time.

Conchistra: Glad we understood each other, now if you don't mind, I would have a meeting in the near future.

Dr. Giusti: But before we say goodbye… Don't you have time left over to hear an anecdote? I think it can be useful to you.

Conchistra: I guess so, hurry up though.

Dr. Giusti: [Inhales deeply.] Do you know the nickname I was given in my division?

Conchistra: I don't see how this is constructive honesty-

Dr. Giusti: Since I offered one of my superiors a nasal plasty with dental control via a straight punch to the face, in my area they call me Spartacus.

Conchistra: What do you mean by that?

Dr. Giusti: I just mean that if you try to walk out of this office as if nothing happened, I'll be more than happy to offer you a manual colonoscopy.

Conchistra: What do you want me to do?

Dr. Giusti: First, don't cry out or seek help. Second, don't go near the alarm button under your desk, I'm blind, not stupid, my office has one like it. And finally, that she and her cockroaches in suits set to work to contact whoever is in command of the Polish branch or the director of the 120, I don't care, I just want the family to be naturalized to FP-120!

Conchistra: Yes, ma'am, Site-120 would have five directors to say the wo-

Dr. Giusti: Procrastinate!?

Conchistra: No! I assure you.

Dr. Giusti: Well. We understood each other.

»END LOG«

Closing statement: Following the meeting, Deputy Director Paolo Conchistra was made aware of the anomalous nature behind the threats he suffered. Nevertheless, the team, led by Mr. Conchistra, set out to carry out the legal procedures necessary for the transfer of PoI-4001,2,3,4,5,6 and 7-IT to the supervision of the Polish branch of the Foundation and in particular, Site-120.

As a result of the unauthorized use of an anomaly against a high-ranking Foundation official, she was removed from SCP-IT-120's duties, stripped of her duties by administering amnestics, and was temporarily detained at Site Virtus.

Addendum 120-3: Disciplinary appeals following the actions of Dr. Giusti.

Interviewee: Dr. Catia Giusti

Interviewer: Dir. Saverio Staffelli

»BEGIN LOG«

Dir. Staffelli: So, would you be interested in giving me an explanation?

Dr. Giusti: For what I did to your deputy director or-

Dir. Staffelli: No, look, for finishing coffee in the common room. (raises his voice) Of course I'm talking about what you did to my deputy!

Dr. Giusti: I assure you that I never intended to cause him, and in fact I did not cause him, any kind of physical harm, you should know.

Dir. Staffelli: Of course I know, but that doesn't mean he didn't do anything. To achieve her aims, she has literally used a memetic anomaly that inspires intense fear in those who listen to her, against her superior to boot.

Dr. Giusti: I would like to point out to you that your tone is rather unprofessional for someone in your position.

[Staffelli mutters in a state of resentment before resuming his speech.]

Dir. Staffelli: Can you please take it seriously and face the consequences of what you have done?

[Dr. Giusti nods silently.]

Dir. Staffelli: (sighs) Good. The first thing I would like to make clear is that, if it had been up to me, I would have allowed her to move her family to Nova Cannae, for example, without any problems. But I don't understand why Esterberg. Why Esterberg? Yes, they have asked for it, but we cannot meticulously satisfy every single request that is given to us.

Dr. Giusti: And if it had been up to me, I would have done everything I could to find a way to leave them in Bolzano. But unfortunately, we have a policy that prevents us from doing so, I was trying to put in place the solution that would satisfy every party involved. Nothing more.

Dir. Staffelli: His critical vision of the Veil is not new to me, they are reported in his personal file.

Dr. Giusti: Have you read it?

Dir. Staffelli: Certainly, several times too, why are you surprised?

Dr. Giusti: Because if you have read it, all the various trips for the purpose of nexological study that I have made will not be new to you either.

Dir. Staffelli: So what?

Dr. Giusti: So if only he knew the things I've seen, so to speak. I visited the rubble of Hy-Brasil, the place where we exterminated them, and I also participated in a reconnaissance in the woods where the name came from. And trust me, after all the things I've studied, researched, and testified, if I tell you that Esterberg is the ideal place for Fae seeking refuge. It has its flaws of course, but

Dir. Staffelli: Very noble indeed, but if you will allow me to speak, I will ask you if you have kept up to date with the findings from Site Minerva?

Dr. Giusti: Not recently. Why do you ask?

Dir. Staffelli: Because they found that personal aptitude and experience play an important role in the intensity of memetic compulsion. You must have wondered why it was so easy to fold it in no time?

Dr. Giusti: I don't, I don't-

Dir. Staffelli: This is very confidential information, but it will be better to let you know when Paolo was [REDACTED], or when he was [REDACTED], or that time when he got into trouble with horrible people and they [REDACTED] him. In short, you can see from a mile that his eye is made of glass!

Dr. Giusti: (coughs)

Dir. Staffelli: I withdraw the last sentence, but you will have received the message.

Dr. Giusti: I didn't know, I didn't want to—I didn't want to hurt anyone.

Dir. Staffelli: What are you trying to say by that?

[Dr. Giusti brings her face closer to that of Director Staffelli.]

Dr. Giusti: I say that they deserve to feel at home and that no one should have been hurt.

[Dr. Giusti leans with her elbows on the table, keeping her head down. Director Staffelli was silent for a total of 14 seconds and then the interrogation ended.]

»END LOG«

Closing statement: First of all, I want to apologize for my informal tone during the interview and I assure the Superintendent that I will make sure that I do not let similar events happen again.

As much as I now understand that Dr. Giusti is right about transporting the family to Esterberg, I find that using an anomaly against a Deputy Director (especially if from Virtus), is an unforgivable action. Surely this act would have far more serious repercussions, such as downgrading or dismissal, but she will instead be removed from the project and will be placed to study new security measures for SCP-069-IT. A series of psychiatric sessions will be scheduled for our deputy director aimed at getting him back to his best faculties as soon as possible.

With regard to the issue of transfer, I would like to state that the bureaucratic measures currently under way in the case of PoI-4001, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will not be stopped and will be able to continue as normal.

-Saverio Staffelli, Virtus Site Director

Addendum 120-4: Follow-up about the subjects PoI-4001, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7-IT.

COMMUNICATION FROM THE SECTION FOR DIPLOMATIC AFFAIRS.

As a result of the legal battle waged by the esteemed Paolo Conchistra, the responsibility for the subjects classified as PoI-1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7-IT now provided with legal names have been transferred to the Polish branch of the Foundation joint with the co-directors of Site-120. The latter have shown themselves in favor of hosting them inside the FP-120 nexus so as to facilitate their human and adequate containment. . The effects of SCP-IT-120 on Lieutenant Mattei have now been confirmed to manifest.
. It should be noted that this was not a vocalization of SCP-IT-120.
. Only minors among the family members.
. A woman in her fifties with features very similar to those of PoI-4001-IT.
. A woman in her forties.
. Although it is dedicated to the containment of bacteriological anomalies and the like, it was chosen because of its physical proximity to the place of discovery.
. Definition given to anomalous leases to which the principles of regular containment are not applicable. Free Ports also fall under this definition.
. SCP-IT-120
. It should be noted that Deputy Director Conchistra states prior to the discussion that he only read the relevant parts of PoI-4001,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 and that he was only superficially instructed about the content and effects of SCP-IT-120.
. Information omitted out of respect for Deputy Director Conchistra.
