An instance of SCP-CN-3164, retrieved from a fruit market.
Item #: SCP-CN-3164
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: An independent containment zone has been established in Site-CN-53's ecological reserve to contain discovered SCP-CN-3164 parent seeds in accordance with standard protocol for Arecaceae anomaly containment.
Currently, Mobile Task Force 丁未-14 ("Linnaeus' Moon Vine"), a task force specializing in botanical anomalies, has been tasked with handling all SCP-CN-3164-related public incidents and transplanting SCP-CN-3164 instances.
Description: SCP-CN-3164 is the fruit of an anomalous subspecies of the coconut tree (currently designated Cocos nucifera subsp. resiliendum H. T. He).
SCP-CN-3164's anomalous properties are that the object will, with no apparent external force, roll in a fixed direction at a constant speed. This motion cannot be stopped or changed by any added external force. All attempts to destroy the object while it is in motion have failed. When SCP-CN-3164 collides with an object significantly larger than itself, the direction in which the object is moving will change, but the object's speed will remain the same. Repeated testing has shown that these collisions do not fully obey the law of conservation of momentum; when SCP-CN-3164 collides with a sufficiently small object of elongated proportions, regardless of any forces acting on the object, the object will fall over in the opposite direction of the collision.
SCP-CN-3164's anomalous properties only manifest when the object's structure is fully intact and both stomata and a sprouting hole are artificially opened.
Discovery: The anomalous properties of SCP-CN-3164 were first discovered at a Foundation-held beach party.
The object's anomalous properties first manifested when a member of staff attempted to damage an instance of SCP-CN-3164. The instance proceeded to impact one movable bar counter, two loudspeakers, five beach umbrellas, one volleyball net, four commmon gulls (Larus canus L., one of which was injured), 76 Foundation personnel and 10 hired dancers.
Of note is that at the moment the aforementioned ten dancers were knocked over, they had been performing a Hawaiian hula dance in positions corresponding to an inverted triangular array. After SCP-CN-3164 struck the foremost performer, she fell backward and caused the other performers to fall over as well in a chain reaction. Following this, SCP-CN-3164 stopped moving and produced a systematic sound by expelling liquid at variable velocity from its openings. This sound has been decoded to the following content:
Nice one! That's a strike!
Following this, the object lost all its anomalous properties.
