Title: SCP-371-JP - Intruding Speakers
Author: sugoitakaiBILL sugoitakaiBILL
Year: 2015
Item #: SCP-371-JP
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: In order to prevent the manifestation of SCP-371-JP, the Foundation is to instruct the general public through local governments and other authorities not to hold meetings of more than ten people in rooms where windows facing outdoors exist, for reasons such as prevention of leakage of trade secrets and potential risk during disasters. In case of confirmed SCP-371-JP intervention, the meeting participants are to be administered Class A amnestics; if any minutes or video recordings of the meeting exist, information related to SCP-371-JP and their speech are to be redacted.
Description: SCP-371-JP is a group of three humanoid entities, which to date have been confirmed to appear in ██████████ in ████████, ████████ in ██████████, ████████ in ████████, ████████ in Hokkaido, and ████████ Ward in Tokyo. All SCP-371-JP instances are dressed in attire reminiscent of various special operations forces, which prevents observation of their bare skin and faces. Their specific appearances and other characteristics are as follows.
# | Appearance | Tone and manner of speech | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
SCP-371-JP-1 | Wears a dark gray balaclava and night-vision goggles. The attire closely resembles that of the Serbian Gendarmerie, but with a red-based camouflage pattern; the uniform emblem has been replaced by a round, all-yellow, unidentified insignia with the phrase "To be or not to be, that is the question" around it. | Relatively high-pitched adult male voice, with a faint Kansai accent. | Tends to make proposals that, if implemented, would be considered extremely large-scale and costly. |
SCP-371-JP-2 | Wears a black balaclava, a moss-green helmet with a face shield, and a Wehrmacht gas mask. The attire closely resembles that of the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team, but the original "FBI" text has been replaced with "設備47" (Equipment 47). | Low-pitched young female voice, which does not sound muffled despite the presence of gas mask. | Tends to make radical and dangerous suggestions that are in clear violation of the law. |
SCP-371-JP-3 | Wears a light gray balaclava, a U.S. military standard helmet, and dust goggles. The attire closely resembles that of the U.S. Army Special Forces, except for the bulletproof vest, which is that of the Japan Coast Guard; the original "海上保安庁" (Japan Coast Guard) text has been replaced with "UNOWEN". | Hoarse elderly male voice, always speaking in polite language. | Tends to propose some kind of religious ritual. |
SCP-371-JP may appear in places located in the aforementioned areas and meeting the following criteria.
- A meeting is being held by a legal entity
- Ten or more persons are present at the meeting
- A window leading to the outside is present
- The room where the meeting is being held is within five floors counting from the top floor of the building, and yet is above the sixth floor
Some time after the meeting begins, SCP-371-JP enters the room where the meeting is taking place by rappelling from the building rooftop and breaking a window; they destroyed the reinforced bulletproof glass in one confirmed case. Despite the loud noise caused by the window breakage and other factors, it does not attract the attention of meeting participants or others in the vicinity. Even in cases where rain or snow blows into the room from the outside, it does not draw any interest until the end of the meeting.
Once inside the building, SCP-371-JP proceeds to join the meeting. The original participants and people in the vicinity do not show any significant reaction to SCP-371-JP's mid-meeting participation, and treat them as if they had been there from the beginning. During the meeting, SCP-371-JP tends to make unconventional suggestions and opinions, examples of which are as follows.
SCP-371-JP Proposal Examples:
- As a publicity campaign for a new sausage product, a sausage should be loaded onto a rocket scheduled for launch, and then sent into the atmosphere from the outer space (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-1 at a meeting of a major food manufacturer).
- As an initiative to raise awareness of can and bottle recycling, giant can and bottle sculptures of approximately 20 m in height should be created, and the destruction of the sculptures should be broadcast live on a TV station (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-1 at a meeting of [REDACTED], a non-profit organization).
- In an effort to promote the use of paper dictionaries, an event should be held in which sex offenders are beaten to death with dictionaries in a public place (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-2 at a meeting of a publishing company).
- In an effort to prevent fraudulent access to the public assistance system, benefit fraudsters who frequent pachinko parlors should be killed with an axe (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-2 at a ████████ City Hall meeting).
- As an effort to publicize the current situation of childcare workers, once a month, an altar of 3 m in height should be constructed with disposable chopsticks at a childcare center, a plush toy on top of it, and then incinerated (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-3 at a meeting of [REDACTED], a non-profit organization).
- Once a year, all employees should worship for three hours at a portrait of Richard Nixon, after which the portrait should be released into the sea (Proposed by SCP-371-JP-3 at a meeting of ████████████)
If minutes are available, these comments are recorded there as formal statements. In the minutes, SCP-371-JP instances are listed under nonexistent names that superficially resemble those of Japanese nationals, although this does not raise any doubts among the meeting participants.
Upon conclusion of the meeting, all SCP-371-JP instances promptly exit through the door of the room. Their whereabouts remain unclear, as they disappear immediately upon passing through the door. After SCP-371-JP leaves the room, the meeting participants and those in the vicinity become aware of unusual circumstances, such as broken windows; however, they are unable to recall how it happened. While the memories related to SCP-371-JP leave only highly vague impressions, such as "unfamiliar people in the meeting," video recordings and minutes remain unaltered after SCP-371-JP's disappearance.
Addendum: In all previous manifestations, none of the proposals from SCP-371-JP have been accepted. Notably, each of the reasons given for their rejection are commonplace, such as "boring," "clichéd," or "not very effective," and do not point to the illegitimate and/or anomalous nature of their proposals.
