GoI-1221: The Cuban Ministry of Anomalies

Also known as:

  • CMA
  • The Ministry

Years of Activity:

  • 1960-2017
  • 2018- (allegedly)

Summary: The Cuban Ministry of Anomalies (hereinafter referred to as CMA) was a Cuban-based occult organization. Instead of focusing on the containment of anomalies, the CMA was largely concerned with turning any anomaly within its scope into a tool for war, espionage or the production of material goods. Anomalies that could not be used for any of the above purposes were often neutralized or traded to the Soviet Union in exchange for material goods. The CMA was severely weakened after the fall of the Soviet Union and the GRU-P, and even more so after the death of Fidel Castro.

Although the organization is considered to have disappeared in modern times, a small resistance cell has been reported to exist in rural Venezuela.

History: The CMA was founded in 1960 shortly after Castro overthrew Fulgencio Batista, the then president of Cuba. It was originally founded by powerful local Santeros, Haitian voodoo practitioners, and several high-ranking military officers who swore loyalty to the communist cause. Castro's plans for the CMA were simple: to ensure Cuba's well-being and longevity in the face of threats from the United States.

Later that year, the CMA executed a series of kidnappings and raids on known abnormal communities within the island. Many individuals refused to swear allegiance to Castro, resulting in the Night of the Red Swords, the largest massacre of abnormal civilians in Latin American history. Few individuals managed to escape the Little Havana nexus, but the rest bent their knees after the Night of the Red Swords. The population of abnormal civilians forcibly joined the army and became test subjects and agents for the CMA.

Knowing they had little time before the Americans and their allies began trying to interfere in their affairs, the CMA set to work finding and creating anomalous means of protection. With the help of GRU-P intelligence, the Foundation's stolen technology, and the lives of many abnormal citizens, the CMA was able to create a large-scale Scranton Reality Anchor. The Scranton Reality Anchor was dangerously unstable, but was successful when used during the Bay of Pigs invasion on April 17, 1961. The troops sent in for the invasion were supported by several abnormal UIU agents, who were effectively neutralized by the Anchor.

But this was only the beginning of the CMA's problems.

As tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States grew, so did the existential fear of being erased as a nation. No matter how much help they received from the GRU-P, Cuba was a small island nation in the front yard of one of the world's biggest superpowers. Their resources were limited due to the embargo imposed on them and their allies were few and far between.

Assassination attempts against Castro became commonplace. The Cuban Missile Crisis put even more tension on the small island nation and its resources. With the threat of an almost unbeatable war looming over its head, the CMA was in a panic. Several high-impact radiation shelters were built to protect Castro and the party elites, abnormal means of resuscitation were created, and paranoia spread.

Every day more and more civilians fled the country, leaving only paranoia and social discontent in their wake. As the tensions in the Berlin Wall increased, so does the speculation in the name of the MAC, always ready to fight tooth and nail for its island.

Addendum: After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the death of Fidel Castro, the CMA has been reduced to near obscurity. Although Cuba is opening up more and more to the world and Cold War tensions are easing, there are rumors that there are still loyalists to Castro and the CMA operating in the Venezuelan jungle. Investigations are pending.

How to write a CMA article

Using the CMA is an exercise in is a cold, practical calculation. It does not focus on containment but on the militarization and exploitation of the anomalies. If they find something that cannot be used to their advantage, they will most likely neutralize it or exchange it with the GRU-P in exchange for information. The CMA has absolutely no resources to waste and has to make every penny count in its efforts to protect Cuba.

Another thing, the CMA lives in the shadow of larger organizations. They know they can never be as efficient, and this is a source of insecurity for them that you can use in an article. Everything they have is second-hand or old, rusty and wasted, but it's the best they have.
