A standee is an object in Super Mario Bros. Wonder that can be placed by a player by crouching and pressing X Button. It acts as a respawn point, allowing ghost players to revive upon touching it, either in the form they had before, or in Small form if they were defeated. Standees come in the form of each of the playable characters (with Co-Star Luma being the sole exception) in various poses and transformations, and the player can only place down standees which match their character. Standee Surprises can be purchased from Poplin Shops for 10 flower coins, which will grant the player a random standee to be added to their collection.[1] In the Special World shop, 30 flower coins can be spent on standees that have not been collected and for a specific character.
There are a total of 144 standees in the game (12 for each character). Collecting them all will award one of six medals to the player's current save file.
Each character has four standees with standard frames that depict various poses, four with silver frames depicting their power-up forms (or extra poses in the case of Yoshis and Nabbit), and four with golden frames, depicting their Wonder Effect forms. The frames also indicate the likelihood of a standee appearing when buying Standee Surprises.
In Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park , Rosalina has 12 standees as well, bringing the total number of standees up to 156.[2]
