Bulrushes are enemies debuting in Super Mario Bros. Wonder . They resemble both ceratopsian dinosaurs and bison. They have light blue fur, blue curved horns, and wear black tracksuits with a blue line.

History[edit ]

Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit ]

Bulrushes debut in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Normally standing idly on two legs, Bulrushes get down on all fours and attempt to ram any player that approaches or touches them. They cannot detect a player using the Invisibility badge unless the player touches the Bulrush. A Bulrush's charging attack allows them to destroy Hard Blocks and any other destructible blocks in their way. Charging Bulrushes also defeat enemies on the way, or damage other Bulrushes. Once a Bulrush collides with a wall they cannot destroy, however, they will be stunned for a short time before regaining composure. Bulrushes can be stood on, allowing players to ride them as they move. They are also immune to Ground Pounds, even while stunned. It takes three Bulrush charges, three trunk attacks from the Elephant form, three objects thrown at it, nine fireballs from Fire form or a single attack in Drill form to defeat a Bulrush.

Bulrushes appear in four courses:

The first two of these courses also feature Wonder Bulrush herds during their Wonder Effect. They are sets of nine invincible Bulrushes that charge forward at high speeds, carrying players standing on their backs with them.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie[edit ]

A plush of a Bulrush wearing a pirate hat appears in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie , where it can be seen on Bowser Jr.'s bed during his flashback.

Profiles[edit ]

  • Trading card bio: This rowdy enemy charges as soon as it sees Mario or his friends, but it's not great at stopping!

Naming[edit ]

"Bulrush" comes from the American football term "bull rush", referring to their appearance and behavior.[1] The name is spelt exactly the same as the plants.
