Canoe

The Canoe ,[1] [2] [3] also referred to as the boat,[4] is an object that appears in Water Land in Super Mario Bros. 3 . It can be reached only by breaking a specific rock midway through the world. The Canoe allows Mario or Luigi to freely travel across the ocean of the world, stopping at docks on small islands to reach Toad's Houses and Spade Panels. As there are no docks outside these islands, however, it cannot be used to shortcut through the world.

In the original Family Computer release, a glitch occurs if a Magic Whistle is used while in the Canoe, enabling free movement around the Warp Zone. This is fixed in international NES releases and remakes.

[...] TOAD'S HIDEAWAYS: THREE MUSHROOM HOUSES AND TWO SPADE HOUSES The boat allows you to access an island to your right that features two Mushroom Houses (where you can grab a Super Leaf, Fire Flower, or Frog Suit in either place), and two Spade Houses (where up to five 1Ups can be yours).
