Joy
Joy is one of the emotions who lives inside Riley's head in the films Inside Out and Inside Out 2. She joins Disney Dreamlight Valley during the Emotional Rescue update alongside her friend and fellow emotion Sadness. True to their status as emotions, Joy and Sadness help you come to terms with a sad memory from your past as you locate pieces of a plush bear found around the Valley!

How to Unlock Joy
To unlock Joy, you must first spend 15,000 Dreamlight to open the Inside Out Realm within the Dream Castle. You can earn the Dreamlight you need by completing various Dreamlight Duties.
After that, you need to complete three Realm Quests in the Inside Out Realm:
- Emotional Rescue - Repair the Headquarters Console and become a Mind Worker!
- Out of the Blue - Head into Long Term Memory Storage to find Sadness. Then, help her solve puzzles and find memories related to Riley's piano playing.
- Dream On! - Visit Dream Production Studios and direct and star in a musical dream to inspire Riley!
At the end of "Dream On!", Joy will decide to relocate to the Valley and work out of Remote Headquarters. You need to spend 10,000 Star Coins to build Joy and Sadness's House. After that, Joy will become a Villager in Dreamlight Valley!
Joy Quests
After moving to the Valley, Joy has a series of Friendship Quests in which she tries to spread her signature cheer to other Villagers. Note that her Friendship Quests are connected to Sadness's, and you must complete them in an alternating order.

Joy Gift Guide
Joy is a cheerful type and loves the color yellow above all. Unsurprisingly, she tends to love gifts that are yellow in color, such as:
- Yellow Flowers
- Topaz
- Lightning Spice
- Gold Ore / Ingots
Joy Relaxing At Home Guide
Joy may visit her house at random times during the day, but she does not have a set Relaxing At Home time.
Joy Friendship Rewards
Joy's Friendship Rewards include an outfit inspired by her, as well as several pieces of furniture imported directly from Headquarters!
In addition to her Friendship Rewards, you can unlock the following items by completing Joy's Friendship Quests:
- Mind Worker Helmet and Mind Worker Gloves from "Emotional Rescue"
- Go Go Glow Light Stick from "Dream On!"
- Miniature Glowing Sun from "Capture the Sun"
- Imagination Land Arch from "Imagination Land"
