007 First Light Ending Explained

Updated:

Did you complete the final mission of 007 First Light, but you need an explanation of the end of James’ last mission, For England? This ending explained guide can answer all your questions, letting you know who lived, who died, and what could be next for Secret Agent 007.

007 First Light Ending Explained

After defeating Damien Webb and thwarting his attempt to steal THEIA’s core, James Bond attempts to finish him off. Rather than die quietly, Damien detonates the bombs he’d set up in the sewers, hoping to flood MI6 and kill James, even if it meant throwing his own life away.

After a desperate struggle, James pushed Damien into the rising water, despite Damien’s iron grip on James. The agent-to-be struggled to break free, but failed, falling unconscious beneath the water. At the last possible second, someone jumped into the water! It was Isola, but instead of saving James, she simply unlatched the AI THEIA’s core from Damien’s suit.

After swimming to safety with the core, Isola contemplates for a moment before diving back into the water to save James.

She ensures he’s still breathing, then takes the core and makes her egress, leaving James to recover on his own.

Next, we see John Greenway’s grave some time later. James is visiting him and he’s joined soon after by M. He compliments the service, and the bagpipes and rifle salute, before M reveals that the funeral service they were attending was for Nicholas Webb, THEIA’s creator and the man behind the horrible events that transpired.

James bitterly remarks that it’s unfair that a terrible person is remembered fondly, while a hero like Greenway dies without much fanfare, though M reminds him that it’s a spy’s job to live and die in anonymity.

On the plus side, James has been fully exonerated of any crimes he technically committed while stopping the Webbs. Finally, M grants James his agent number, 001. James pushes back, telling her that it doesn’t feel right taking 001. Since he was the seventh addition to the program, James believes he should be 007, which M admits is her lucky number.

In typical Bond fashion, he muses that he doesn't know who saved him and stole THEIA’s core, though it could only have been Isola. M encourages him to do some digging, referring to him as 007. Soon after, credits begin to roll, but not before a message appears stating that James Bond 007 will return, revealing that a sequel is in the works.

Who Lives and Who Dies?

Throughout the course of the game, several key characters are killed. Monroe, three other agents in training, Greenway, Nicholas Webb and Damien Webb all die at one point or another. Confirmed survivors are M, James Bond, Cressida, and Isola.

Does Greenway Die?

Yes, in Chapter 8: Time to Die, Greenway appears just in time to save James from being cut in half by Damien Webb. They fight their way through a quarry together, but Greenway takes a bullet meant for James. He encourages James to go after Damien, but when James returns from his victory, Greenway’s injury has left him barely clinging to life. After a brief exchange with James, he dies, pleading to James that he doesn’t let the life of a spy change who he is.

Does Moneypenny Die?

It’s unknown whether Moneypenny lives or dies by the end of the game. Damien stabbed her after forcing her to give him THEIA’s core, so that James would be forced to attend to her rather than chase him down. Q showed up shortly after, giving James his Q Master Watch and telling him to chase Damien down. This is the last we see of Moneypenny, though given Q’s genius and a lack of followup mention, we assume that she survived her injury.

What’s Next

So, what's next? Well, now you can go back and find all the collectibles or complete all the challenges you missed!
