The work of this committee is being continued through Community and Affiliate Board Liaisons. Liaisons will work actively with the wider Wikimedia movement to support strong links between communities and the Foundation, and advance work on shared priorities. Liaisons will regularly attend virtual and in-person movement events and support other trustees in attending as well. Current Liaisons are Victoria Doronina and Maciej Nadzikiewicz. Community members can reach the Board at board(_AT_)wikimedia.org.

Welcome to the Wikimedia Foundation's Board of Trustee's "Community Affairs Committee" (CAC)!

Sobri

The Wikimedia Foundation's Community Affairs Committee (CAC) is a Board committee that was established on 24 February 2021. Its aims is to "assess, explore and address current and future community-related efforts. Its main goal is to work with both Wikimedia Foundation staff and the wider Wikimedia community in order to bridge conflicts and offer guidance, with a main goal of continuously improving the relationships between the Wikimedia Foundation and its wider community, as well as working jointly to achieve the mission and vision of the Wikimedia Movement, while considering the different needs of the Wikimedia Foundation, our communities and users around the world."

The CAC's scope and responsibilities are laid out in its charter.

The Committee's main priorities for 2025 are:

  1. Community-related initiatives and affairs: Help prioritize community-related initiatives, liaising with committees and task forces, and supporting CEO and relevant staff regarding ongoing community-related priorities (e.g. engaging the movement with the annual planning work & other organisational priorities).
  2. Board Communications: Maintain and improve ongoing connections with communities at events, calls, and more.
  3. Movement Strategy: Support the implementation of the Movement Strategy, including liaising with applicable committees (e.g. Governance Committee, Affiliations Committee, as well as engaging with drafts and outputs.)
