The Skills directory will be archived once the migration of all profiles to CapX is complete.
Let’s Connect registration and user profiles are migrating to the Capacity Exchange (also known as CapX). Since its launch in 2022, Let’s Connect has utilized temporary features, including the Google registration form and the Skills Directory, until CapX developed. CapX is user-friendly and multi-lingual. It will make it easier to find other Wikimedians, affiliates, and programmes, to exchange knowledge and information. Only non-sensitive information (such as the basic information you fill out in the CapX form that includes your user name, skills, time in the Movement, and affiliation) will be publicly shared on CapX. Any other personal data you fill in for the Let’s Connect registration (such as optional email, gender, age) will only be accessed by the Let’s Connect team through an internal database. The Let’s Connect team will use this information for aggregate analysis, learning, and evaluation purposes, and to actively communicate with participants.
What does this mean for my profile? What should I do next?
If you are an existing Let’s Connect registered participant, then you will be able to register for CapX and merge your existing Let’s Connect profile to CapX.
Read these step-by-step instructions to see how it works, and remember to log in with the same Wikimedia username you used to register on Let’s Connect! Only the data on the CapX registration will be public (such as your username, skills, affiliation, etc). Other optional data, such as email, will not be made public and will continue to be used exclusively by the Let’s Connect team for communication purposes.
By September 2025, we will be archiving the Let’s Connect skills directory, and all the public-facing information will be on CapX.
If you have not yet registered for Let’s Connect, you can now proceed directly to the CapX platform to do so. At the end of the user profile editing page, you will see a button that takes you to register additional information to join Let’s Connect. Only by registering this information will you be added to the programme’s official list and communications.
