Wiki Loves Minas Gerais workshops
In the first semester of 2026, Wikimedia Brasil held a series of four in-person editing workshops at federal universities in Minas Gerais — UFOP and UFV — as part of the Wiki Loves Minas Gerais initiative. The workshops introduced participants to the contest, provided training in Wikipedia editing, and included hands-on activities focused on creating and improving articles related to the state's biodiversity, culture, and heritage. The workshop series contributed to training new editors and strengthening the Wikimedia community in Minas Gerais.[1] [2] [3] [4]
The activities align with WMB's strategic axis of sustaining collaborative practices in support of free knowledge, bringing higher education institutions closer to the Wikimedia movement and encouraging community participation in content about topics relevant to Minas Gerais. The four workshops collectively engaged 48 editors and 9 organizers, resulting in 49 edited articles, 4 new entries created, 118 edits, 97 references added, and approximately 66,510 article views.[1] [2] [3] [4]
