Rename Hybrid Shapes

File: Any_Document_Scripts/Rename_Hybrid_Shapes.py
Version: 1.1
Document Type: Part, Product, or Process

Description

Allows the user to select multiple hybrid shapes and rename them all to the same name in one operation. Useful for batch renaming a set of related geometry.

Requirements

Requirement Value
Python >= 3.10
pycatia >= 0.8.3
wxPython Required
Open document Part, Product, or Process

Usage

  1. Open a Part, Product, or Process document containing hybrid shapes
  2. Run the script
  3. A CATIA selection prompt appears — select all the hybrid shapes you want to rename, then click OK
  4. A dialog box appears asking for the new name — enter it and click OK
  5. All selected shapes are renamed

Notes

  • All selected shapes receive the same name — CATIA will automatically append .1, .2 etc. to disambiguate
  • If a boundary reference (Selection_) is selected instead of the hybrid shape directly, the script renames the parent object
  • To rename shapes to different names, run the script multiple times with different selections
