Livestock slaughter, June 2026
More meat gained than a month earlier
About 4,400,000 poultry, 16,800 pigs and 6,700 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in June. In this way, about 8,200 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,500 tonnes of pig meat and 2,200 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.

Increase at the monthly level
Compared to May, the slaughter of cattle in slaughterhouses declined by about 3% (by about 200 animals), while the slaughter of poultry increased by about 6% (about 200,000 animals) and of pigs by about 4% (about 700 animals).
Compared to the previous month, the total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 3% higher. The total carcass weight of poultry went up by about 5% and of pigs by about 2%, while of cattle it went down by about 1%.
Compared to a year ago, over a tenth more meat gained
Compared to June last year, the slaughter of poultry went up by about 11% and of cattle by about 4%, while the slaughter of pigs went down by about 1%.
The total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 12% higher than a year ago. The total carcass weight of poultry increased by about 15%, of cattle by about 7% and of pigs by about 2%.
Estimate of slaughter outside slaughterhouses
We estimate that about 1,200 pigs, 5,600 sheep and 2,300 goats were slaughtered outside slaughterhouses in June.
