Special Containment Procedure (ZH Ver.)
As SCP-ZH-835 has resulted in a Broken Masquerade scenario and the deconstruction of normal civilisation, and moreover there are no sufficient time and resources for Foundation branches to collaborate on the defence of a systematic anomaly, the current goal of the ZH branch is to preserve the normal civilisation and defend against anomalous power within and outside of Taiwan. The Three Enclosure Command has designated Site-ZH-100 as the core command facility, and currently (February 2023) sitting in Fengyuan District, Taichung City, Taiwan.
The following are the main objectives of facilities still in operation.
- Site-168: Assist in the research on AVE particles and develop paratechnologies to counteract with current threats.
- Site-ZH-44: Maintain the structure of SCP-ZH-962, and assist in the defence of marine anomalous threats in the east coast of Taiwan.
- Site-ZH-76: Maintain all counter-K-class scenario resources, and act as a backup shelter for ZH personnel when necessary.
- Site-ZH-81: Ensure the safety of itself, and establish a stable communication pathway with Site-ZH-100.
Site-ZH-100 should monitor the location and frequency of SCP-ZH-835 occurrences, the whereabouts of SCP-ZH-002 and its behaviours, the situation in the east coast of Taiwan, the activities of Sarkic anomalies in Western Taiwan, activities of Daevite or Children of the Night around the coast of mainland China, the status of the Serpent's Hand in Taiwan, and the safety of all survivor groups. The Foundation currently opens for recruitment
If any major incident occurred in Site-ZH-100 that has resulted in its failure, all members of the 3E command should shelter in their command wing until the crisis has resolved and all wings can be recombined. Designated shelter locations are classified to Level 5 Personnel.
Description
SCP-ZH-835 is a global thaumaturgic amplification/ aether modification phenomenon starting from March 12, 2022, which systematically derails the modern human civilisation from normalcy. The height of SCP-ZH-835 was around July to August, 2022, with daily occurrence averaging of 7000 times worldwide. At the time this document was written (February 2023), SCP-ZH-835 occurs 10 times daily on average; the pattern of the occurring location is yet to be observed.
When an SCP-ZH-835 event occurs, a dimensional anomaly of at least 4 km2 will appear at the top of troposphere and release a large amount of AVE particles. As AVE particles appears to be blue or bluish green at bulk, this event is also known as an "Azure Skydome" or a "Skydome". The duration of a Skydome event is indefinite; 97% of the event lasts for at most 10 minutes, but instances that lasted for 200 minutes are also observed.
As SCP-ZH-835 has dealt a significant impact to the normal world, this document has been separated into several sections discussing various important concepts and effects of the SCP. Personnel who are familiar with basic concepts can skip to relevant sections.

1. Brief introduction to AVE particles
Aethereal Vital Energy Particle, otherwise known as AVE particle, is a type of novel thaumaturgic product. Unlike the optically colourless Elan Vital Energy Particle, AVE particles is naturally coloured — its wavelength is around 472-491 nm. Thus, they usually presents as a halo of cyan to blueish green. Similar to EVE particles, AVE particles can transformed into various states of matter or energy, although these converted states has a cyan to blueish green hue.
AVE particles affect baseline reality by causing the following phenomena: 1) Aether modification , 2) Thaumaturgic amplification, and 3) the pressurisation on the Hume Field .
1.1. Aether modification caused by AVE particles
Definition: Aether
Aether is a form of existence between matter and energy, and can be commonly seen in living beings. It can form athereal networks which are important constructs that bind one's physical form to the noosphere. Thus some would call them "souls", although this nomenclature is not officially approved by the Foundation. Aether is also an important bridge for living beings to interact with EVE, and a key anchor for various thaumaturgic techniques.
In human beings, the shape of their aethereal network is identical to that of their neuroarchetype. This is because all their cognitive functions are centred in their brains. Other forms of living being may have a different aethereal network to that of a human, but virtually all organisms with brains have their brain neuroarchetype as part of their athereal network. The aethereal networks of thaumaturgists are modified, usually exceeding the silhouette of their neuroarchetypes.
AVE particles has an extremely high affinity to aether, approximately 25x to that of EVE particles. AVE particles can modify aether, enhance the biological performance of living beings, and other functions such as repairing oxidative stress, delaying telomere damage and adjusting epigenetic modifications. Therefore organisms affected by AVE particles usually have healthier bodies, and has enhanced life phenomena like growth, reproduction, metabolism, and senses.
The only biological specie that is not able to be directly affected by AVE particles is standard humans (Homo sapiens normalis), or people without thaumaturgic or reality bending powers . This can be attributed to the 6009-Catena structure in SCP-6009; the electromagnetic-aethereal barrier generated by 6009-Catena has nullified the effectiveness of AVE particles when they come contact to the aethereal network in human beings, thus preventing the majority of humans from being directly affected by AVE particles and not becoming thaumaturgic entities. This kind of barrier, along with SCP-ZH-310, may be "safeguards" designed by SCP-1000 to prevent humans from overthrowing their authority.

1.2. The thaumaturgic amplification caused by AVE particles
AVE particles can unidirectionally decay into EVE particles and be used by various thaumaturgic entities. Therefore, the AVE particle burst waves cause by SCP-ZH-835 to baseline reality often result in local thaumaturgic amplifications, and enhance casting powers of thaumaturgists.
Furthermore, as AVE particles improve the biological functions of thaumaturgists, and bind to their aethereal network on a massive scale, and so this further increases their casting capacities. Most Level 2 thaumaturgists have reached Level 3 after an SCP-ZH-835 event, although Level 4 entities are also not uncommon.
Classification of Thaumaturgic Entities
This chart is a new system set by the Foundation's Department of Thaumaturgy after March 2022 as a response to SCP-ZH-835. Do not confuse with the older version or ICSUT standards.
- Level 0: Entities without thaumaturgic abilities; interaction rate with EVE particles is lower than 2 mSd/min. These entities encompass most baseline humans and inorganics.
- Level 1: With an interaction rate with EVE particles of 2-10 mSd/min, these entities have thaumaturgic potentials, but require a lot of external help for thaumaturgy to occur. Level 1 entities are usually pre-thaumaturgists; one notable example is mediums in most religions.
- Level 2: These entities have an EVE particle interaction rate of 0.1-10 Sd/min, and are classified as actual thaumaturgists. Their aethers can interact with EVE particles in the environment and independently execute thaumaturgy techniques. Most human thaumaturgists and Sarkic Zends belong to this level.
- Level 3: Entities with an EVE particle interaction rate of 10-100 Sd/min, clearly reaching the anomalous threshold. They can generate noticeable phase radiation and bending the reality density field. Seasoned human thaumaturgist, Children of the Night, most Daevite entites and Sarkic Karcists belong to this level.
- Level 4: Entities with an EVE particle interaction rate of 100-200 Sd/min; the definition of human beings are no longer applicable to them, their existence ontologically has defied the rules of physics or biology, and spontaneously generate a dent on the reality density field. Daevite Matriarchs, Sarkic Klavigar and small Halkosts belong to this level.
- Level 5: Entities with an EVE particle interaction rate of 200-500 Sd/min; they are not naturally occurring organisms, but large thaumaturgic constructs made by entities on lower levels. Examples include large Halkosts, Daevite anti-casual devices, and fortresses made by the Children of the Night. In theory, Jesus in his physical form and the Grand Karcist Ion belong to this level, but this hypothesis is currently unverifiable.
- Level 6: Entities with an EVE particle interaction rate of 500-1000 Sd/min, they are essentially high-threat entities that can dominate a portion of a country. Presently, the Foundation is unable to find a neutralising method for these kinds of entities; it is risky to even approach them. One example is the Gate Guardians before neutralised by SCP-ZH-835.
- Level 7: Entities with an EVE particle interaction rate exceeding 1000 Sd/min; this is a theoretical level as no such entities are presently observed. Any entities beyond this level are essentially Pluripotent Entities who can disintegrate planets or space-time continuity, and thus there is little use to classify such entities.
1.3. Pressurisation on the Hume Field caused by AVE particles.
Explanation: Two major mechanisms of reality bending
It is commonly believed the power source of reality benders can be categorised into two: ontological and biological.
- Ontological reality benders
Their powers stem from their inherent Hume slope in the reality density field. The metaphysical status of this type of entities heightens their inherent Hume level, and lowers that of the surrounding, and thus the difference between the two level allows them to bend reality. Examples include SCP-239, SCP-2599 and SCP-3999.
- Biological reality benders
Their power stems from the Hume slope caused by the Spinoza particle stream constructed by SCP-ZH-310. Examples include SCP-076, SCP-105, within the Adytium system,and all anomalies that can cause reality bending via SCP-ZH-950.

As the gradient of ontological reality benders is correlated to the environment, their Hume peaks will decrease under the pressure of AVE particle swarm, to the point that they are below the average Hume value of the environmental reality density field. Thus, within 30 min after an SCP-ZH-835 event, ontological reality benders will inevitably "lose" their power.
On the other hand, the Hume peaks of biological reality benders originate from biological responses and Spinoza particle streams, and thus not affected by reality density field fluctuations caused by AVE particles. They can bend reality to a greater extent, but such extent is still lower than that of thaumaturgists.
In conclusion, the following are the effects of AVE particles:
- Enhance the life performances of eukaryotes
- Indirectly increase the EVE particle density in the environment.
- Enhance the power of thaumaturgists
- Increase the power of biological reality benders
- Temporarily nullifies the power of ontological reality benders
Site-168 has been assigned for further AVE particle research.
2. Current status of the world
On September 1st, 2022, the Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition have announced the Earth has derailed from "Normalcy" and reclassified SCP-ZH-835 and all derived events from Keter to Tiamat. The following is a brief overview of the event development in the world from March 2022 to February 2023, as well as the SK-class threats currently faced by humans.
2.1. Systematic events
SCP-ZH-835 and its derivative products have resulted in the following events:
- THRIVING OF THAUMATURGIC ENTITIES
After an outburst of AVE particles, they decay into EVE particles, which suspend in the environment; meanwhile, thaumaturgic entities all around the world have undergone aether modification and thus enhance their casting abilities. 10 weeks after the appearance of SCP-ZH-835, 75% of thaumaturgic containment objects have left the Foundation's control. On the other hand, the appearance of new anomalies is way faster than the containment efficiency of the Foundation. Therefore both the Foundation and the Coalition have adopted the stance of "eliminate taking priority over containment".
- THRIVING OF MEGA-EUKARYOTICS
The enhancement of eukaryotic species caused by AVE particles has resulted in the expansion of non-human ecosystems and blurs the boundaries of the living spaces between humans and other organisms: instability of human infrastructures due to proliferation of plants and fungi, frequent transmission of fungal infections; animals have become larger, more aggressive, and more prolific, and frequently cause death and injury to humans. Several witnesses have reported creatures exhibiting behavioural changes from original, such as the growth of new organs or irrational behavioural patterns. It is not possible to confirm whether these cases are pre-existing anomalies of SCP-ZH-835, or some species in the ecosystem have indeed developed new traits due to aethereal modification.
- GLOBAL POLITICAL CRISES
Due to the aforementioned effects, all normal political entities in the world suffer social unrest. Most countries have declared indefinite martial laws, while geopolitical conflicts have erupted in several regions due to circumstantial pressures, such as the Balkans, India and Pakistan, the Arab Cultural Sphere, the Korean Peninsula and the Taiwan Strait. Some countries have attempted nuclear weapons tests to deter competitors, and struck thaumaturic entities or overpopulated ecosystems through such measures. However, these weapons were repurposed to defend against new political threats, especially those which are out of normalcy.
From July 2022, the apex period of SCP-ZH-835 have resulted in the resurgence of the Children of the Night, the Daevite civilisation and the Adytite civilisation. These SK-class inducers are active in several areas in the world, and fierce conflict are seen with the human regime in the same area. Meanwhile, numerous regions in the world are controlled by high-level thaumaturic entities, human residents may become sacrifices for casting, literal food, aether refills or involuntary followers.
2.2. An overview of anomalous civilisation activities
The following is an overview of uprising anomalous civilisations post-SCP-ZH-835.
Overview of anomalous civilisation
- Daeva: First appearing in 7000 BC, the Daevite is a matriarchic civilisation led by demi-human species Homo sanguinus. It uses thaumaturgy that controls causality, and highly focused on ethnic oppression and slavery.
- Adytium: A rebelous political power stemming from Daeva, they are more commonly called as "Sarkics". It extensively uses animalistic and biologic thaumaturgy (magic of blood and flesh), and emphasises on resistance and liberation. Converts are named Adytites.
- Children of the Night: Homo nocturnus, a demi-human species before the existence of Homo sapiens, also known as large primates appearing in legends, like "Yetis" or "Bigfoots" They are highly intelligent and carry huge thaumaturgic potentials; ten thousands years ago, they have viewed the intelligently undeveloped humans as livestocks and modified their genetic structure. At some point, they were overthrown by humans and have been staying dormant until SCP-ZH-835.
- Children of the Stars: Trans stellaris, a demi-human species before the existence of Homo sapiens, also known as "Faes". These entities mainly live in a parallel dimension within the Earth; some individuals are struggling with naming difficulties due to some ancient events. They are also natural thaumaturgy users.
- Aomauqiaes: Originated in the Pacific region, this anomalous civilisation has been interacting with humans within the area 7000 years ago and indirectly led to the expansion of Austronesian peoples. These entities are natural water-based thaumaturgy users — they can become seawater and control marine lives. Notable examples include SCP-ZH-098 and SCP-105-VN.
The territories of Daeva (Magenta) and Adytium (Light Red) as of January 30, 2023, roughly equivalent similar to that of their apex in history, although it is noted they are currently still expanding. There is a large bordering area between the two; the lighter areas represents they are recently occupied.

2.3. An overview of the current status of SCP-ZH
After SCP-ZH-835, most ZH-branch facilities are abandoned due to the Taiwan strait war, large-scale containment breaches, and attacks from GoIs. Currently the Three Enclosure Command and the core resources of the Foundation are relocated and concentrated in Site-ZH-100, an Counter-K class mobile facility as the new central administrative unit of the ZH branch. The primary missions of the branch are defending against anomalous forces in the Taiwan island, saving civilians and be watchful of offshore attacks by the Aomauqiaes, an anomalous civilisation.
2022
- March
- 12th: First SCP-ZH-835 event occurred in Huadong Valley, then became a global phenomenon shortly after.
- 30th: Taiwan declared martial laws. The National Paracivilian Agency and SCP-ZH initiated a collaboration project to prevent anomalous incidents to worsen the situation in the region.
- 31st: The Western Pacific Allied Forces led by the United States stationed in Taiwan.
- April
- 16th: Site-ZH-25 in Hong Kong and Site-ZH-26 in Macau were taken over by the Serpent's Hand. Several personnel were sent to Taiwan.
- 20th: To mitigate the anomalous pressure in the country, People's Republic of China launched sporadic military attacks against Taiwan, but no onshore actions were seen. Taiwan deployed defensive missiles towards Xiamen and Shanghai. Taipei 101 was damaged, of which only 352 meters remained.
- 28th: Site-168 in Hsinchu, Taiwan has discovered the electromagnetic-aethereal barrier produced by 6009-Catena structure against AVE particles.
- June
- 17th: China has ceased all missile attacks against Taiwan. The People's Liberation Army moved their defence towards Central and Northern China.
- 23th: The nature of SCP-ZH-002 has violently changed, see Addendum-02 for details.
- 30th: Site-ZH-16's nuclear warhead was forced to detonate under massive containment breach, which led to the deaths of around 100,000 people in Taipei and New Taipei city. Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan city are contaminated by nuclear radiation; the Taiwan government has moved the capital city to Taichung.

- 01st: Site-ZH-01 is abandoned. Site-ZH-100 is activated.
- 03rd: As the Children of the Night's expansion has led to sweeping damaged to America, moreover, the Liberation Army has stopped being a military threat towards Taiwan, the US withdrew their army from Taiwan.
- 10th: The Aomauqiae launched their first tsunami attack towards East Taiwan.
- 11th: Site-ZH-100 has reached the new settlement in Taichung.
- 12th: Site-ZH-12 has announced a "Resolution" event, of which all staffs can choose to either leave the Site permanently, or stay in the Site forever. Site-ZH-12 later trapped itself into a closed time-space cocoon to protect itself; currently there are no known contact methods.
- 15: Site-ZH-81 has lost contact after suffering a marine attack.
- August
- 06th: The Aomauqiae launched their second tsunami attack towards East Taiwan.
- 17th: Even though the Aditium has not come contacted with Taiwan, Sarkic entities, mainly SCP-ZH-610, began massive infections and converted many survivors across Taiwan.
- 25th: SCP-ZH-002 has purified most SCP-ZH-610 patients as well as ordinary humans in Taichung city. The physical government of the Republic of China was destroyed in the event. Site-ZH-100 moved to Shanshang district in Tainan.

- 01st: The Foundaion and the Global Occult Coalition have officially revealed themselves and declared the fall of the Veil to all survivors in the world.
- 06th: SCP-ZH-835 occurrences has plateaued. Site-ZH-100 moved to Fengyuan district in Taichung.
- 27th: The Aomauqiaes launched their fourth tsunami attack; their damage was limited as Site-ZH-44's defence was successful for the first time.

- 10th: The "New Republic of China" was reestablished and sought protection from Site-ZH-100, which has offered such request. Nonetheless, it did not acknowledge the necessity of its presence.

- 04th: The Aomauqiaes launched their fifth tsunami attack; a large number of SCP-ZH-098 populations have been observed for the first time. Site-ZH-44 has lost contact.
- 20th: The Aomauqiaes launched their sixth tsunami attack.
- 24th: Site-21-VN reached East Taiwan. Site-ZH-44 resumed contact with Site-ZH-100.

- 19th: Site-168 has observed the formation of a new Thaumaturgical virus, which is temporally assigned as SCP-ZH-621.

Addendum-01: Regional anomalies
Many anomalous entities in the administrative area of ZH branch have undergone noticeable changes after SCP-ZH-835. This section is a summary of entities
SCP-ZH-002
SCP-ZH-002 annihilating SCP-ZH-610 in Taichung city on August 25th, 2022. Note the hue change around the AVE beam coming from its "muzzle".
The current dominating thaumaturgical entity on Taiwan island is SCP-ZH-002, which was a 5-metre tall quadruped pre-SCP-ZH-835. It was shaped like a deer or a horse, but partial characteristics from large animals in Taiwan could be seen on its body, as well as a 30 centimetre horn on its forehead. SCP-ZH-002 has appeared at various times in Taiwan's history; its appearances were often indicative of impending natural disasters, but it was not the source of natural disasters. It is currently believed that this entity is a physical embodiment of the collective subconscious of the island, and is hostile to humans.
The thaumaturgic level of SCP-ZH-002 has been rising after the SCP-ZH-835 event — it was reclassified from Level 4 to Level 5 in June, 2022, then Level 6 in August. Currently, SCP-ZH-002 is a glowing entity standing around 200-600 metres tall and composed with AVE particle aerosol. It has a narrow neck with distinct but equally transparent antlers and front horns, with various animal heads appearing and disappearing rapidly on the sides of the neck and face. However, the face is fixed with six pairs of eye-like structures radiating roughly from the centre of the ‘muzzle’. Its torso and tail are about 100 metres high; although its feet does not have stable contact with the ground, it ‘strides’ forward using its hoof-like feet, and is also capable of shooting out high-intensity beams of AVE particles from its ‘muzzle’. Direct contact with SCP-ZH-002's AVE aerosol causes immediate neuroparalysis and AVE intracranial bursts, leading to immediate death in humans; organisms exposed to this type of gaseous gel for more than five minutes will completely transform into blue-green crystals composed of AVE particles, which are very brittle. However, plants and fungi appear to particularly grow along SCP-ZH-002's path, possibly due to increased levels of vegetation reproduction and growth resulting from the delayed decay of residual AVE particles.
At present it is unknown what SCP-ZH-002's attitude on all forces on the island, or if it is sapient. SCP-ZH-002's behaviours seem to indicate its apathy towards humans as any actions to either prevent or actively facilitate the death of humans are not observed. It ignored the coastal attacks from the Aomauqiaes, yet it actively suppressed SCP-ZH-610, which was massively spreading across west Taiwan in mid-August, 2022. It is unclear what SCP-ZH-002's judgement criteria are; some thaumaturgists in the Foundation believes its aim is to bring "balance" within the island, and humans are not within its scope of consideration.
Other key anomalous entities
- Description: A reptile entity with Amis cultural elements. It is sentient, capable of short-distance teleporting and communication, and is hostile towards humans.
- Current status: It became a Level 4 entity after SCP-ZH-835. Its active area seems to be limited to Huadong Valley and the coastline. No active attacks on civilians were observed, although has brought casualties to Foundation members.
- Encounter measures: If under attack, check if you have brought any Level 3 or above anti-thaumaturgy weapons, or else retreat immediately. Site-ZH-44 is tasked with capturing SCP-ZH-684, which is a Class C priority.
- Description: A small humpback whale species from a collapsed Nexus NX-ZH-02, have biological reality restoring powers. The only member of the species is contained in NX-ZH-30.
- Current status: Were observed again during Aomauqiaes' attacks and crippled the actions of the Foundation. The traces of Sikacawan people are not seen in their activities.
- Encounter measures: SCP-ZH-098-3 is the only entity contained by the Foundation and takes a cooperative attitude. Avoid letting it rejoin the wild population. Capture of wild SCP-ZH-098 and relevant research have begun.
- Description: A hostless Sarkic disease, which can induce human bodies to extreme shapes and potentially converting them into Halkosts.
- Current status: SCP-ZH-610 is observed to be contagious, and may be converted via direct contact or attack from patients. SCP-ZH-610 had infected 740,000 people in Taiwan in August, 2022, and is forcefully neutralised by SCP-ZH-002.
- Encounter measures: All remaining patients should be euthanised and cremated completely. All contacting personnel must wear Class A biological protective suits. Site-168 is currently developing its antidote, and it is expected to be successfully developed in summer 2023.
- Description: A novel thaumaturgic virus discovered in Janurary 2023, it can weaken the structure of 6009-Catena and in turn let ordinary humans to be easily modified by AVE particles.
- Current status: This novel diseases seems to be unpreventable, but the prevalence is still low.
- Encounter measures: In progress.
Addendum-02: Brief introduction on Site-ZH-100
The 144th version of Site-ZH-100's blueprint, approximately 14% variance from the final version.
Site-ZH-100 is a mobile command facility established by the Three Enclosure Command, the leadership authority of ZH branch; it is a 2500-metre-long rectangular mothership , and can be split into twelve individual parts.
Site-ZH-100 utilised XACTS and SRA technologies from SCP-2000, and with the help of Site-168, it has installed a AE fusion reactor which can directly produce energy by converting AVE particles into EVE particles. In theory, Site-ZH-100 is immune to all thaumaturgy, reality bending, dimensional anomalies and physical damages known by the Foundation, and can borrow the AVE particle stream ejected by SCP-ZH-835 as its power source. Therefore it is the most important counter-anomaly asset of the Foundation.
After the activation on July 1st, 2022, Site-ZH-100 has housed approximately 96% contactable staff. As of the end of Janurary, 2023, a citizen settlement for fifty thousand people in Fengyuan District, Taichung was established around the facility.
The main missions of Site-ZH-100 are:
- Coordination of intelligence and resources across existing facilities
- Storing most controlled non-thaumaturgical or non-ontokinetic Safe Class anomalous items.
- Assist in the reconstruction of citizen communities and counter-anomalous tasks
- Closely observe the aggression of anomalous civilisations outside Taiwan
- Closely observe the movements and characteristic changes of SCP-ZH-002.
- Closely collect intel within Taiwan and dispatch response resources
- Recruit citizens into the Foundation to assist with the above missions.

Good day, friends. I, represent the ZH branch of the SCP Foundation, would like to send a warm New Year's greetings. In these difficult times, we believe today will be a peaceful day as a reward for our endeavours.
In the past year, the world we knew has disintegrated, billions of people — our colleges, our lovers, our relatives — were beset by various disasters and have passed away. You are not alone holding onto this pain, and we understand your will to be freed from this world. Nonetheless, the Foundation has continuously observed a decrease of SCP-ZH-835 instances. Furthermore, many survivor communities in Taiwan have showed signs of stable development. We cannot promise the days ahead will be smooth sailing, but right here, right now, we have survived the most acute, the deadiest chaotic period, and future redevelopment are within reach.
Even though we should hold onto optimism, the challenges laid by SCP-ZH-835 has yet to end. Recently, the activities of SCP-ZH-002 (Glowing Beast) are uncertain, but we will notify everyone if it comes into presence.
