Item #: SCP-ZH-034
Threat Level: Orange ●くろまる
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-ZH-034's highly destructive capabilities, explosive-resistant materials are required for its containment. Subject is currently contained in an abandoned missile silo located in Area-██, United States, through a transfer containment agreement. The internal space of the missile silo has been modified in accordance with Ethic Committee's requirements to provide an appropriate living environment for SCP-ZH-034, with the subject's basic needs provided regularly. Personnel are to repair all environmental damage caused by the subject's anomalous property within 24 hours.
Description: SCP-ZH-034 is a male Taiwanese citizen named Lee ████ ████, aged thirty when first contained. Outside of its main anomaly, SCP-ZH-034's appearance and behaviour are unremarkable and do not deviate significantly from non-anomalous humans.
SCP-ZH-034's main anomalous property is the spontaneous detachment of its head. The condition to trigger said property is currently unknown, and SCP-ZH-034 possesses no control over its activation. Currently, the trigger condition of said property is unknown and cannot be predicted; SCP-ZH-034 itself displays no conscious control over the anomaly.
When SCP-ZH-034's head is separated from its body, its neck produces a large amount of force, causing SCP-ZH-034's head to reach high velocity. Based on information from the records, it is calculated that the head's velocity is approximately five times the Earth's escape velocity, allowing the head to pass through the Earth's gravitational field and reach outer space without much difficulty. Notably, despite the severe damage done to SCP-ZH-034's surroundings, the subject's head and body will not suffer from any injuries.
Whenever SCP-ZH-034's head is separated, its body loses the ability to move. SCP-ZH-034 eventually regenerates a new head within 24 hours with the same appearance, memories, and personality. However, the subject does not retain memories when its head is detached; it is presumed that the separated head does not possess SCP-ZH-034's consciousness or sentience.
Since containment of SCP-ZH-034, the subject has launched ██ heads into outer space; these heads have maintained a velocity of 125,000 mi/h travelling away from Earth. Recovery has been deemed too difficult, unnecessary and a waste of resources. Thus, this proposal has been denied by Three Enclosure Command. Concealment efforts are only made towards astronomy organisations or participants to ensure the integrity of the veil.
Addendum 034/01: Anomalous Activity
To understand SCP-ZH-034's head separation frequency or trigger condition, the Foundation has attempted to record every occurrence of head separation. The following is an excerpt of anomalous activity happening from late July to early September.
Date Record of SCP-ZH-034's head separation Note 20██/7/22 At 19:28:34, the subject was eating its dinner. Separation occurred as it took the first bite, before the subject managed to swallow the food completely. N/A 20██/8/1 At 03:47:56, separation occurred as the subject was sleeping. Researchers noted that the head will travel towards space after separation regardless of the direction the subject's head is pointed towards. 20██/8/3 At 14:47:21, the subject was exercising in the missile silo; separation occurred as the subject did its 32nd sit-up. The head destroyed a Russian satellite, ██████. 20██/8/15 At 04:25:00, the subject was awakened due to leg cramps; separation occurred as the subject was massaging its leg. N/A 20██/8/18 At 21:35:45, the subject was cleaning and getting ready to sleep. Separation occurred as the subject was brushing its teeth; the head flew to outer space with the subject's toothbrush within the separated head. The head nearly collided with a Chinese space station, ███, the objects were within 100m of each other. 20██/9/2 At 04:09:29, the subject was unable to sleep and chose to read to pass the time; separation occurred when the subject opened the book. N/A 20██/9/6 At 17:14:38, the subject was preparing food for dinner. Separation occurred as the subject was peeling a carrot. N/A Despite extensive records, the Foundation is yet to identify the trigger condition for SCP-ZH-034's head to be separated from its body.
Addendum 034/02: Interview Log
Interviewer: Dr. Brownlee
Subject: SCP-ZH-034
Foreword: This interview is conducted and recorded remotely using communication devices.
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Brownlee: Hello, SCP-ZH-034, I am Dr. Brownlee. About your body's abnormal condition, we believe that having a deeper understanding regarding you will help in facilitating your treatment process. So, I hope that I could obtain more information from you during this interview…
SCP-ZH-034: Treatment? Oh, no no no. You must have misunderstood. This is a hereditary condition. It is not a disease.
Dr. Brownlee: (pauses) Hereditary…? So you mean that your family has similar conditions to yours
SCP-ZH-034: Yeah, but I'm the most incompetent one among them. My younger siblings were able to let their heads separated from the body before they were ten, but mine only separate for the first time when I was thirty…
Dr. Brownlee: Siblings!? That's impossible. We would have noticed if there are others like you! We were already alerted when your head got launched into outer space for the first time. Thankfully, you lived in a sparsely populated area at the time.
SCP-ZH-034: That's why I said, I am the most incompetent one in the family! Everyone in my family can control their heads however they like, fly where they want to, do what they want to! Unlike me, who not only cannot control when or where my head separates from the body, but also destroys everything near me into pieces! When I was younger, I was always mocked and berated by my family, because I was the only one whose head was always stuck on their shoulders!
SCP-ZH-034: And worst of all, I am the eldest child, so everybody has high expectations of me! Especially my grandfather, he often told me stories from his youth. He claimed he was able to utilize his abilities to fight in the battlefield when he was just sixteen! He held similar expectations for me, hoping that I too could accomplish… but I can't! I just can't do anything right!
Dr. Brownlee: I understand how you feel, please calm down. (pause) Erm, are you willing to to provide any more information about your family?
SCP-ZH-034: Of course I can, but I ran away from home when I was eighteen and I never contacted them ever since.
[END LOG]
After the interview, the Foundation have attempted to locate the "family" mentioned in the interview using the information provided by SCP-ZH-034 and the subject's own personal information without any success. Based on the residential area showing signs of haphazard tidying, it appears that these individuals have the ability or technology to predict the Foundation's investigative actions. Further investigation into these anomalous individuals, who remain at large, is still ongoing.
