SCP-ES-266

Special Containment Procedures: Although the whereabouts of SCP-ES-266 are currently unknown, it's believed that it could be found near the Gulf of Mexico. There does not exist a viable containment for SCP-ES-266, and given its qualities, a termination protocol has been established for when it's located, which is shown below:

  • The SCPS Fulmarus, tripulated by the MTF Phi-48 ("Ballestas Yubarta"), will be sent to the location of SCP-ES-266 as soon as possible, backed up by the SCPS Typus and Baula.
  • If SCP-ES-266 is found in a crowded zone, an attempt will be made to move it to a secluded area by means of metal nets and/or human-like decoys to continue with the normal protocol. The use of Class D personnel in the event the decoys fail to attract SCP-ES-266 is authorized.
  • A recreation of the partial neutralization process executed by the GOC will be attempted (For more information consult Annex 226-1) with the purpose of reducing possible threats. In the event of failure, the next part of the protocol will be carried out.
  • SCP-ES-266 will be dismembered using a HEL, which will be found in the equipment of Fulmarus.
  • The severed remains of SCP-ES-266 will be collected by Fulmarus. In the event of said SCPS being unable to collect them, authorization will be granted to Typus or Baula to carry out this task.
  • Once this is done, a backing SCPS will search the nearby area for SCP-ES-266-A instances. If they are found, all the instances will be collected, and together with SCP-ES-266 remains, will be transported to Site-53 for post analysis and storage.

Description: SCP-ES-266 resembles a Cyanea capillata specimen of ~32m of length, whose umbrella resembles a human skull in appearance and consistency.

SCP-ES-266 presumably feeds off of human skeletons, which it obtains through the rapid extension of its tentacles with the purpose of delivering electric shocks and/or neurotoxins. Once this is done, it will take the flesh off said individuals and will use it to form decomposing fleshy masses similar to eggs (designated SCP-ES-266-A) of varying sizes, from which jellyfish will emerge (designated SCP-ES-266-B).

SCP-ES-266-A instances produce an estimated 10 instances of SCP-ES-266-B a day, which has a bluish color with purple tones, as well as spots similar in shape to human bones (such as tibiae, ribs, and femurs).

Once SCP-ES-266-B instances emerge from SCP-ES-266-A, they will wander the oceans with the aim of locating dead bodies submerged in the waters, to be subsequently revived by SCP-ES-266-B's own instances, which will expire after performing this process. It should be noted that this process can also be carried out by SCP-ES-266.

Once SCP-ES-266 has created instances of SCP-ES-266-A, it will enter a dormant state from which, according to reports provided by the Global Occult Coalition (For more information see Annex 226-1), it will only emerge within a year.

Discovery:

SCP-ES-266 was accidentally discovered by the SCPS Voltconn during an investigation of URA-3487. Voltconn requested capsules and nets for the purpose of capturing SCP-ES-266. However, while these were being brought to the SCPS location, SCP-ES-266 entered an active state and reanimated multiple corpses from a nearby sinkhole, which attacked Voltconn. Voltconn's internal recorder managed to capture a fragment of audio before it was damaged.

After receiving the data sent by Voltconn, the SCPS Saraceno was sent to collect URA-3487 and the remains of Voltconn scattered on the seafloor. Instances of SCP-ES-266-A were found and DNA analysis confirmed that they were members of Voltconn. Instances of SCP-ES-266-B found in surrounding areas were captured and sent to Site-53.

Annex 226-1: Below is a document from the Global Occult Coalition regarding SCP-ES-266.

KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion

Threat ID:

KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion "Colossal Calaveric Jellyfish"

Authorized Response Level:

1 (Minimun Threat) 4 (Severe Threat)

Description:

KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion is a gigafaunal specimen of Lion Jellyfish, currently located at 50°30′08′′N 7°54′52′′W, Atlantic Ocean. The umbrella of KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion has the appearance and hardness of an adult human skull.

KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion is in a dormant state from which it emerges every 31 October to feed on humans. Its hunting methods tend to vary, although it usually attacks by extending its marginal tentacles, through which it can generate electric shocks or inoculate neurotoxins, both of which cause throbbing pains, spasms, swelling, and fainting. It usually attacks off the coasts of England and Wales, although there have been documented incidents in which KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion has allegedly attacked via drainage and/or plumbing systems.

Once KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion has ingested approximately 32 humans, it will extract their flesh to build fleshy polyps similar to rotting meat, which may vary in size and appearance. After this, KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion will enter the dormant state mentioned above. A few hours later, jellyfish with reanimator qualities will emerge from the polyps, which will attempt to reanimate human bodies through unknown methods and then die. If these jellyfish fail to reanimate corpses within an estimated time period of 3 days, they will also expire.

Reanimated corpses will become inert after apparently random intervals of time not exceeding two weeks. The purpose of the resuscitation is still unknown.

The polyps extracted and analyzed have not generated jellyfish, so it is believed that their effect only occurs under the sea. In addition, these polyps will begin to fragment for no apparent reason within a month of their creation, always ending with the structure being reduced to dust.

History:

On October 29, 2000, an unauthorized attempt to access the GOC database was detected by an unknown perpetrator, later identified as PoI Delta Nikita, an agent of The Serpent's Hand, this being her fifth attack on the Coalition since [CLASSIFIED].

A dummy terminal was set up, from which the location could be tracked and the identity of PoI Delta Nikita confirmed. A Rapid Response Team was dispatched to the location for the purpose of apprehending the subject. Although the team was unsuccessful in this mission, they were able to recover documents, files, and belongings left at the location. Among these items was a printed document regarding KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion, referred to as "Marine Spectral Scourge", from which much of the information described in this file has been obtained.

After conducting investigations, the existence of this entity was confirmed and, in view of the violation of the Third and Second Mission, the Submarine Troyboi, manned by Strike Team 6924 "Caseus", was sent to the location of KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pigmalion with the purpose of neutralizing it. This mission was carried out successfully and, although KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion was not completely wiped out, its threat was almost completely countered. For more information refer to [CLASSIFIED].

On October 31, 20██, the SCP Foundation accidentally encountered KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion during an unrelated operation. While the Foundation Submarine was examining it and attempting to transfer it to a Site, KTE-3120-Cetus awoke and attacked personnel before fleeing. It is known that the Foundation subsequently sent a second submarine to try to capture the Threat Entity, but it is unknown if they have been able to find or contain it. In view of the possible breach of the Second, Third, and Fourth Missions, operatives have been deployed in an attempt to find its current location.

In addition, it is reported that at the same time that KTE-3120-Cetus Typhon-Pygmalion entered an active state again, 〔CLASSIFIED〕 .

Para-Threat Investigation

Special Observer:

"Tisoki" (46657468/6924)

Summary: Entity Threat with similarity to marine animals belonging to the coelenterate phylum; specifically, to the lion jellyfish. It is capable of giving off a purple glow. It has been found ~5,000 meters below sea level in the Atlantic Ocean.

Any approach by means of lures to the entity has resulted in a negative and/or aggressive reaction from it, causing it to attack using its tentacles, which have been observed to have the capacity to elongate up to 12 meters, and can also administer electric shocks and secrete neurotoxins, making direct contact unfeasible.

Suggested Response:

くろまる Mobilize the Threat Entity to a less crowded maritime area. [APPROVED]

くろまる Send a Strike Team to the area to neutralize the Threat Entity. [APPROVED]

くろまる [CLASSIFIED] in an attempt to neutralize the Threat Entity. [APPROVED]

くろまる Use a BGM-109 Tomahawk to neutralize the Threat Entity definitively. [DENIED]
