Item #: SCP-ES-035
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ES-035 is contained in a 18 m x 25 m x 25 m cell made of reinforced concrete. It has a single point of entry measuring 15 m high and 7 m wide. Constant surveillance is performed through a set of 4 cameras at each corner of the cell. SCP-ES-035 is allowed to leave the cell 3 times per month for testing purposes. During this time, Dr. Guillermo Carmona and a level 3 or higher staff member must monitor SCP-ES-035.
When an incident predicted by SCP-ES-035 occurs at the containment site, personnel of any rank are permitted to grant its temporary release.
Description: SCP-ES-035 is a humanoid entity approximately 12 meters tall. Its appearance resembles armor worn by the Knights Templar between the 12th and 14th century. It is capable of locomotion through a complex system of gears powered by an internal battery. Its external surface is composed of a resistant alloy with a silver hue made out of tungsten, iron and gold. It is decorated with gold, red and white paint. Dents and other signs of wear are visible on SCP-ES-035.
SCP-ES-035 only responds to armed individuals that exhibit aggression directed towards itself or Dr. Guillermo Carmona. It will defend the latter alongside third parties if ordered to do so by Dr. Carmona. SCP-ES-035 will engage with the threat until it is neutralized or ordered by Dr. Carmona to cease.
SCP-ES-035 is capable of flight by three thrusters located on its back with two in the soles of its feet. Its lift off speed can reach 1,500 km/h in 10 seconds while maximum speed during flight is 3,700 km/h (Mach 3).
SCP-ES-035 is capable of speech in a deep metallic tone. Spanish is the only language that it can speak. The entity will warn of future events around one week in advance that will compromise the safety of Dr. Carmona. As a result, ██ incidents at Site-██ have successfully been suppressed with minimal damage.
During various tests SCP-ES-035 demonstrated extensive knowledge of unarmed fighting styles. It is believed that SCP-ES-035 is conscious, but there is insufficient evidence to verify.
SCP-ES-035 is constantly aware of Dr. Carmona's location and health. It is somehow able to monitor his cardiovascular and neurological systems. If any potentially life threatening conditions occur it will enter a state of emergency. The following items will be produced:
- A variety of medications dispensed from a compartment on the wrist. Some of the substances have not yet been identified.
- Canned foods and bottled liquids dispensed from a compartment in the chest.
- Each finger of the right hand will become high-precision mechanical arms to perform surgery.
- A cylindrical compartment in the chest measuring 2 m x 1.50 m x 1.50 m will become accessible. It is equipped with a respirator and seat belts. SCP-ES-035 will house Dr. Carmona in the compartment if it determines the area to be unsafe.
SCP-ES-035 possesses two additional items designated SCP-ES-035-1 and SCP-ES-035-2.
SCP-ES-035-1 is a weapon resembling a Charleville musket approximately 5 meters long. Any solid material no larger than 1 cubic meter can be used as ammunition. It can fire 10 shots before reloading, which resembles the mechanism for a single-shot shotgun. Muzzle velocity is approximately 25 km/s. Its range is around 2,500 meters. The entity carries SCP-ES-035-1 on its back when not in use.
Tests with SCP-ES-035-1 reveal that the force of each shot is proportional to the hardness of the material. Diamond was found to have the most destructive potential to date.
SCP-ES-035-2 is a cylindrical device measuring 50 cm long with a diameter of 25 cm. Its edges have flashing blue lights. The device is located in a chest compartment of SCP-ES-035. It is only observed when SCP-ES-035 removes it while residing in containment. Its alleged function was reported in an interview (see Addendum C).
Addendum A: SCP-ES-035 was recovered in ██████, Mexico, after loggers reported a loud bang that left 5 hectares of forest incinerated. When personnel arrived at the site, SCP-ES-035 resisted containment efforts that caused ██ to be injured. Meanwhile, the entity demanded Dr. Guillermo Carmona to be brought to its location. It entered a docile state upon Dr. Carmona's arrival to the area, and it was subsequently transported to Site-███ without further incident. Prior to its containment, a sealed envelope was delivered to Dr. Carmona (see Addendum B).
Addendum B: The following letter was addressed to Dr. Carmona.
Hello Dad!
I hope my gift arrived on time. It's very nice, isn't it? I hope you like it because Mom and I miss you a lot. I found out too late about what you really did for a living. I'm not angry with you though. You didn't tell us for our own good. I suppose that what you do is also for the good of everyone and everything we know. Thank you. However, you should also take care of yourself, your life.
I remember when I turned 6 that you gave me a wooden knight. You told me that when I was scared I should hold it tight against my chest. It would always protect me from thunder and monsters under my bed while I slept. It is not a common thing to give a girl, but in my innocence it was enough to calm me down.
Now it's my turn to gift you someone that will protect you. I want you to stay with us to see my graduation, my wedding, and my children. Steampunk will help you in your work. If it ever fails it will travel great lengths to fix undo any mistake, without ever stopping.
Take care of yourself dad.
Sincerely, Catalina
Dr. Carmona's daughter was 3 years old when the letter was received. A request for her to be put under constant surveillance is pending approval.
Addendum C: After reviewing the letter, an interview with the entity was performed inside its cell.
Interviewer: Dr. Guillermo Carmona
Interviewee: SCP-ES-035
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Carmona: Good morning, Steampunk.
SCP-ES-035: (Seated on the floor with its legs crossed.) It's a pleasure, Doctor. The way you greeted me suggests that no introduction is necessary. Now, how may I help you today?
Dr. Carmona: Answers, starting with how you got here. Where do you come from?
SCP-ES-035: Of course… (Proceeds to remove SCP-ES-035-2 from its chest. It uses the index finger and thumb to hold the device.)
SCP-ES-035: Time travel is not safe. Think of this component as a last resort.
Dr. Carmona: Time travel? How does it work?
SCP-ES-035: (Returning SCP-ES-035-2 inside its chest) Travel through the timeline is achieved by matter reconfiguration. It shouldn't surprise you considering your work here.
Dr. Carmona: I understand. So how many times have you used it? Did you fail your mission each time?
SCP-ES-035: (Pause) I'm sorry, doctor. My programing does not allow me to share that information. I can only say that I'm doing much better every time.
Dr. Carmona: Well, how do you feel about your situation? What do you think about your purpose?
SCP-ES-035: (Pauses) Feel… I can't feel. I only think. Mission failure disrupts my purpose. I must obey.
Dr. Carmona: Before we finish for the day, could you tell me something about your creator?
SCP-ES-035: Miss Catalina… I was created from hope and a broken heart. She invented wonders from scratch, putting life into the dream. I consider her to be admirable!
Dr. Carmona: I appreciate your cooperation. Thank you.
SCP-ES-035: (Proceeds to stand up and perform a salute) Good luck today in your mission. Of course I already know that you will, Grandpa.
