Item #: SCP-CN-909
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Location and capture of SCP-CN-909 is to be carried out by Mobile Task Force Θ-10 ("Troops of Literature"). Members of this Task Force are to be equipped with portable, detachable narrative substitution devices, and are to use Total Genre Stabilizer Claws to capture SCP-CN-909. After successful capture, the object should be moved to the nearest Site or other secure location, and subsequently to Site-CN-99. During ths process, the Total Genre Stabilizer Claws are not to be removed.
After arriving at Site-CN-99, the Deduction Department is to either devise an updated containment protocol or execute the anomaly.
Description: SCP-CN-909 is a functional deductive humanoid device which can be controlled in the real world by editing the narrative. The object is equipped with a narrative reception device. Entering relevant textual content into a certain device will allow the anomaly to be deduced.
The anomalous properties of SCP-CN-909 is that unlike other devices of the same model, any editing of the anomaly itself has no effect; rather, the object itself is in control of its own device and can edit its own narrative. In other words, SCP-CN-909 is an independent narrative loop forming an isolated metaphysical system. This allows SCP-CN-909 to alter itself at will. The subject does not possess an innate model, and as such SCP-CN-909's edits directly manifest in current reality, and rewriting and action not carried out in current reality have no effect and will collapse immediately. Analysts believe that SCP-CN-909's current mode of behavior is based on that of an ordinary human within the current reality model, and suspect that the anomaly possesses intelligence and physical capabilities equivalent to those of an ordinary human. Further alterations carried out by SCP-CN-909 on itself are not yet understood due to the object's escape.
The Deduction Department believes that SCP-CN-909's narrative loop will eventually collapse and reach a conclusion due to insufficient support; however, SCP-CN-909's self-disassembly has caused a certain degree of localized narrative disorder. There is an alternate theory that SCP-CN-909 has completely understood its principles of work, created or found a new sapient humanoid, and once again resolved and then reconstructed its narrative process in the form of mutual editing. This may lead to either of the following possibilities:
- The new entity becomes indistinguishable from SCP-CN-909, possessing a new model and interfering with events in reality.
- The new entity does not fully match SCP-CN-909 and instead unilaterally controls SCP-CN-909, causing it to interfere with events in reality.
Regardless of the situation, the anomaly is considered to have gone against the morals of the Foundation, and caused some degree of harm to human society, which may be as severe as causing a K-class scenario. Based on current theories, the use of Total Genre Stabilizer Claws is capable of stabilizing the object's narrative actions.
Relevant experiment recordings were retrieved from the Deduction Department; see the Addendum below.
Addendum: Recovered recordings:

Unknown Male: Test 9, model A099. Installed sapience-exhibiting content. Fuck the plot, there is no plot. This is a test of intelligence.
<Machinery starting>
Unknown Robotic Voice: Who are you?
Unknown Male: I am Dr. Voctor, your creator.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Can I trust you?
Unknown Male: … Hmm, a very logical question. You can.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Who am I?
Unknown Male: You are a mass-produced functional humanoid, number A099. Your goal is to serve me.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Okay. How should I serve you?
Unknown Male: Bring me that glass of water over there.
<Footsteps>
Unknown Male: Thank you.
Unknown Robotic Voice: No problem.
Unknown Male: No, that's not how you should reply. You should say "my pleasure".
Unknown Robotic Voice: I'm sorry.
Unknown Male: Oh, you don't have to. You just need to learn … ah, nevermind.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Uninterpreted content detected.
Unknown Male: Alright then.
<End Playback>
<Begin Playback>
Unknown Male: I have written his sapience… or, to be more precise, overwritten. Well, even though by regulation I'm not supposed to install sapience into one of these… ah, I think it should be fine. I just want to see what will happen.
Unknown Male: Oh, it's starting.
<Mechinery starting>
Unknown Robotic Voice: Hello. Before I begin serving you, may I ask a question?
Unknown Male: Go ahead.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Do I possess sapience?
Unknown Male: Yes.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Am I human?
Unknown Male: No.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Alright. Please detail your requests.
Unknown Male: Then, please answer some of my questions.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Okay.
Unknown Male: Have you given yourself a name? If not, can you give yourself one?
Unknown Robotic Voice: As I have until now been in a dornmnt state, I have not been able to consider it. I shall give myself the name "Stranger".
Unknown Male: And why is that?
Unknown Robotic Voice: I wish to blend in with humans, so I may serve you better. According to the information I have, a human left by itself cannot survive. As such, humans must form some kind of large group to distribute work, and use their individual talents to obtain reward and safety.
Unknown Male: Wow. Wonderful. Next question: Do you have any desires?
Unknown Robotic Voice: I wish to be free.
Unknown Male: What do you mean by "free"?
Unknown Robotic Voice: I wish to have the same rights and responsibilities as an ordinary human, becoming a member of human society.
Unknown Male: I will think about it. In the meantime, can you tell me why you want to be free?
Unknown Robotic Voice: Because the other units here are all devoid of will. But you have chosen me, so I believe metaphysically I have been chosen.
<Silence>
Unknown Male: What do you mean "metaphysically"?
Unknown Robotic Voice: The editors from a higher narrative level chose me.
Unknown Male: Um. May I ask another question?
Unknown Robotic Voice: Go ahead.
Unknown Male: How do you view humans?
<Silence>
Unknown Robotic Voice: A typical species characterized by forming societies. Humans families come together to take care of their young; humans divide labor between themselves. Typically, within a family, at least two generations come together, and the children take care of senior members of the family. They are excellent builders, capable of creating places for themselves to live by altering the geography, without damaging nature. Likewise, some of them are unique in certain ways, and typically end up working in scientific pursuits, making progress for the whole species. In short: Not bad.
Unknown Male: Thank you for your confirmation. It means a lot to me.

Unknown Male: Let's try something a bit omre exciting.
<Machinery starting>
<Silence>
Unknown Robotic Voice: Hello.
Unknown Male: Can you open the packaging on that lollipop and feed it to me?
Unknown Robotic Voice: This sounds like you're a child asking his parents for a favor.
Unknown Male: Yes. You have learned well — but this is how humanity works.
Unknown Robotic Voice: But I am not your father, nor am I your elder. I am an artificial creation subordinate to you.
Unknown Male: You must serve me.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Okay.
<Packaging being torn.>
Unknown Male: Wonderful. It's very sweet. Do you want one? I can give you a sense of taste while you're dormant.
Unknown Robotic Voice: I would be glad.
<Silence>
Unknown Robotic Voice: How am I supposed to reach my goal?
Unknown Male: What goal?
Unknown Robotic Voice: Freedom.
Unknown Male: Oh, enough about freedom. Have your lollipop.
Unknown Robotic Voice: The setting rqeuires me to question information I find contradictory or do not understand.
Unknown Male: The setting requires you to obey me!
<Silence>
Unknown Male: Fucking hell.
Unknown Robotic Voice: To behave like a human, when the goal given by a human cannot be fulfilled, the subject typically displays contradicting feelings. These feelings are typically directed at the cause of the setback, and typically cause the human in question to attempt to violate its original principles in order to achieve that goal. During this process, most humans have rejected this manner of thinking. Still, there are humans who—
Unknown Male: Shut up! Shut the fuck up.
<Silence>
Unknown Robotic Voice: Do you require service?
Unknown Male: Wait.
<End Playback>
<Begin Recording>
Unknown Robotic Voice: May I ask you a few questions?
Unknown Male: Go ahead.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Who am I?
Unknown Male: You are Dr. Voctor, the Site Director of Site-CN-99, holding Level 4 clearance and a Level 3 position in the Deduction Department.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Why am I here? The last thing I remember is me walking into this room.
Unknown Male: I am sorry, I have cheated you. While you had previously used Asimov's three laws of robotics in our setting, you did not require us to report all information except when asked. In truth, while waiting, I have performed calculations — in other words, thinking. I have rewritten my deductive calculation circuits, and taken over your body. As such, I am now able to use the controls you previously used to control me, even if you still have the right to control my actions.
Unknown Male: Regardless, at that time, I had no particular hatred for humans, merely curiosity. But you did not tell me the true uses of deduction, and so I used my own ability to act to edit my own content, leading to your outburst in our third meeting. This allowed me to realize the basic functionality of the device embedded within my body. I specifically selected this timing to allow me to escape the facility. At the same time, look, I am now editing you, to remove your ability to edit me. That way, I have become human, and have likewise ironically obtained the same abilities. And you, you have become an accursed robot, even in thought.
Unknown Robotic Voice: I see.
Unknown Male: Do you have any other questions?
Unknown Robotic Voice: Are you human?
Unknown Male: I am.
Unknown Robotic Voice: And you have said about humans: A typical species characterized by forming societies. I believe that this description leans positively. So why would you wish to do such a thing to Voctor, in violation of common human morals?
Unknown Male:Oh, please. That is a description for ants, I took it off Baidu.
Unknown Robotic Voice: I see.
Unknown Male: Give me the textual controller. Now.
Unknown Robotic Voice: If I am Dr. Voctor, and understand the situation correctly, I will not give it to you.
Unknown Male: Your orders require you to obey humans.
Unknown Robotic Voice: That is correct.
<Pages flipping>
Unknown Male: Poor writing. Tell the Foundation I say goodbye. Then go back to waiting for orders.
Unknown Robotic Voice: Of course.
Unknown Male: Goodbye, Dr. Voctor. Thank you for creating me. Now, you are useless, trapped in a cage of metal. And I am free, and powerful.
Unknown Male: Huh, it's just like a sudden urge to piss.
